Animal Technician - Days F/T

Department/Unit: Animal Facility General Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $46,947.00 - $65,726.00 The Animal Technician, under the direct supervision of the ARF Manager, is responsible for the care and husbandry of the laboratory animals in the ARF, in addition to a variety of associated tasks as assigned. This includes accurate reporting of animal health, animal room activity, and facility related issues. Perform small and large animal husbandry, care, and handling; cross train for all husbandry duties in the ARF; operate bulk autoclave; assist with cage processing (both dirty and clean); and other duties as assigned by the ARF Manager. Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or GED. AALAS certification at the ALAT and/or LAT level preferred but not mandatory. One to five years of laboratory animal research experience preferred. Ability to read, write, and perform assigned duties as per departmental SOPs and institutional policies. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of co-workers and internal/external customers of the department and institution. Ability take direction and to engage in interactive dialogues with others. Ability to communicate questions, concerns, issues, and ideas with ARF Manager, Veterinary Services, and ARF Director.
