Freelance Opportunity: Cloud Engineer (IaaS)
Duration: Initial 12 months, with up to three renewals (total maximum 48 months)
Location: Frontex Headquarters (on-site service provision, EU)
Start Date: Earliest 08 January 2026
Deadline: Proposal submission within 21 calendar days from receipt of the Request for Service
Project Background
Aricoma is seeking a Cloud Engineer (IaaS) to support the administration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud environments. The role focuses on Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions and supports application development teams through reliable, secure, and compliant cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
Administering and monitoring enterprise cloud environments, including subscriptions, identities, and resource management
Monitoring and reporting on cloud resource utilisation and consumption
Preparing, updating, and maintaining reports, workflows, policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures
Provisioning and de-provisioning development environments and DevOps projects
Providing 2nd line support to application development teams for cloud services and coordinating with 3rd line support
Participating in coordination and project meetings
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Profile & Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of IT-relevant professional experience
At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
Required mid-level certification in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Eligibility to obtain an EU personal security clearance, valid from the first day of assignment
Education & Experience
University degree at EQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Proven professional experience in cloud engineering or a comparable role
Technical Knowledge
Mandatory:
Technical knowledge of enterprise cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud), including identity, networking, compute, storage, containers, databases, and analytics
Experience in building and operating cloud services (compute, storage, networking)
Strong scripting and programming skills (PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, Go, Bash)
Experience with Linux administration and scripting (preferably Red Hat)
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure-as-a-Service concepts
Knowledge of cloud security, compliance, auditing, and monitoring tools
Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL-based change, configuration, and release management processes
Desirable:
Nutanix Certified Professional – Multicloud Infrastructure (NCP-MCI)
VMware VCP-DCV v7.x or newer certification
Language
Working knowledge of English at CEFR level B2 or higher
Engagement Terms
Freelance-based engagement
Full-time assignment (40 hours per week)
On-site service provision
Initial allocation:
230 man-days (normal working hours)
12 man-days (extended working hours)
2,150 on-call hours
Contract renewable up to a total duration of 48 months, subject to performance and business needs
Security Requirements
EU personal security clearance at level RESTREINT UE / EU RESTRICTED, valid from the first day of assignment
Certificate of Good Conduct (not older than 3 months)
