Bormioli Luigi Corporation is seeking a Controller to lead all Finance, Accounting, Human Resource activities for our US division. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will collaborate closely with team members locally, and with our parent company in Parma, Italy. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in multiple disciplines and must have a strong accounting and financial background. About the Company:
Bormioli Luigi Corporation is the fully owned subsidiary of Bormioli Luigi S.p.A., and responsible for the United States and Canadian market. This position is based in the 41 Madison Avenue office in New York City. Our parent company, Bormioli Luigi S.p.A. is a family owned and operated glassmaker that is headquartered in Parma, Italy. Bormioli Luigi produces to service their business segments: Prestige Perfumes (perfume bottles, fragrance jars, diffuser bottles and more) Glassware (stemware, tumblers, canning and preserving jars, carafes, bowls, plates for the Retail and Food Service markets) and Spirits bottles. Since 1825, the Bormioli family has been crafting fine wares and is a global leader in glass products.
About the position:
The Controller will lead the Bormioli Luigi Corporation team’s Accounting, Human Resources and Operational activities.
- Accounting: (2 direct reports)
o Preparing of month-end reporting
o Year-end Financial Statements
o Collaborate with Italy Finance team
o Oversee general accounting activities (credit risk, accounts receivable and payable)
o Tax preparation and filing
o Work with auditors as required for business needs
- Human Resources: (no direct reports)
o Administrative roll to oversee payroll
o Participate in annual health care benefit plan negotiations
o Point person for HR concerns of staff
o Information Technology (no direct reports)
§ Own the IT relationship by working with independent consultants in the US, consultants in Italy and parent company IT team
§ Facilitate equipment request and manage the local infrastructure
Experience and Expectations:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 5 years in Accounting and Finance.
- This role is based in the New York City office, and a minimum of 3 days per week in-office with preferred 5 days per week unless traveling.
- Typical travel required 2 trips annually to the warehouse in South Carolina, for audits, physical counting and operational review. (1 trip will be beginning of January for end of year audits). Possible additional travel as needed, which will be limited
- Familiar with GAP, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, month end financial reporting, annual financial statements, audits.
- Negotiation skills and background a plus
- Local candidates only with the position is in-office a minimum of 3 to 4 days
- Be fluent in Italian or mother tongue is a plus
