Data Scientist / Financial Analyst

Our team is known for leveraging advanced analytics across core competencies while building enduring infrastructure and knowledge bases that support integrated services and long-term outcomes. ​ Position Summary: Pantheon is seeking a Data Scientist / Financial Analyst to define, develop, and validate the analytical logic powering a financial intelligence module within an existing application ecosystem. This role will bridge financial interpretation, business rules, raw data, and user-facing product functionality to deliver meaningful financial intelligence capabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and financial management expertise and be capable of transforming complex financial, vendor, contract, and operational data into actionable insights, forecasts, anomalies, and risk indicators. Key Responsibilities: · Develop financial and analytical logic for the financial intelligence module · Define metrics, calculations, thresholds, forecasts, anomalies, trends, and risk indicators · Analyze financial patterns across contracts, vendors, suppliers, invoices, obligations, payments, costs, and operational drivers · Support scenario analysis, forecasting, variance analysis, trend analysis, what-if modeling, anomaly detection, and risk analysis · Collaborate with SMEs and clients to ensure analytical outputs are accurate, explainable, and operationally useful · Partner with frontend developers to translate analytical outputs into user-facing features, dashboards, and visualizations · Work with Data Engineers to define data requirements, transformation logic, quality checks, and model-ready datasets · Validate outputs against source data, business rules, and client expectations · Document assumptions, formulas, methodologies, dependencies, and analytical limitations · Identify opportunities for advanced analytics, predictive modeling, automation, and financial intelligence enhancements · Support client briefings, demonstrations, and analytical reviews related to financial intelligence capabilities ​Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of relevant analytical or financial management experience · Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and analytical modeling skills · Experience with Python, SQL, statistical analysis, forecasting, or analytical modeling techniques · Ability to work with complex and imperfect datasets and develop meaningful, defensible analytical outputs · Experience identifying trends, anomalies, outliers, and early warning indicators · Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders · Familiarity with financial management, contracting, procurement, vendor, supplier, or operational data preferred · Experience supporting dashboards, decision-support tools, financial intelligence products, or analytics platforms preferred · Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across technical and functional teams · Experience supporting Government, DoD, Navy, or defense-related environments preferred · Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance Salary Pantheon offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including health insurance contributions, 401(k) matching, and other non-salary benefits.
