Job description
At Tennis Australia, we’re creating a more playful world through tennis – for everyone.
From grassroots to Grand Slams, tennis brings people together, inspires communities, and builds champions on and off the court.
We’re a team of imaginative and passionate people who believe in the power of sport to make a difference. If you're ready to help us serve up real impact through modern people systems, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re committed to reflecting the communities we work and play in. We strongly encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQI+ individuals, people with disability, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Tennis Australia’s most significant HR technology transformations.
As Head of People Systems Optimisation, you will lead the end‑to‑end evolution of our HR technology ecosystem, ensuring we deliver a modern, integrated and employee‑centred experience for our people, leaders, volunteers and contingent workforce.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery accountability. You will own the HR technology roadmap, lead large‑scale system implementations and optimisation (with Workday at the core), and ensure our people systems enable better experiences, insights, compliance and operational excellence.
This role leads a small specialist team and works in close partnership with Technology, Finance, Payroll, People Services and external vendors. It has significant enterprise‑wide influence and requires strong leadership, credibility and change capability.
In this role you will:
Lead and own Tennis Australia’s multi‑year HR technology strategy and roadmap, aligned to organisational and digital strategy
Drive the optimisation and adoption of Workday across Core HR, Payroll, Talent, Recruitment, Learning, Workforce Planning, Time and Absence
Lead major system implementations, enhancements and optimisation cycles, ensuring quality delivery, risk management and value realisation
Shape future‑state HR processes and operating models that improve employee and leader experience
Oversee vendor selection, contracting, governance and performance for HR technology partners
Ensure strong data governance, system integration and delivery of meaningful workforce insights and analytics
Lead organisation‑wide change, communication and digital capability uplift to embed new ways of working
Build and lead a high‑performing people systems and change team
Influence senior leaders and governance forums to enable effective decision‑making and prioritisation
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Extensive experience leading large‑scale HR or enterprise systems transformations in complex environments
Strong expertise in HR technology platforms such as Workday (or equivalent), including implementation and optimisation
Proven experience owning system roadmaps, delivery governance and multi‑vendor environments
A strong systems and process mindset, with the ability to simplify, integrate and improve end‑to‑end experiences
Demonstrated ability to lead significant change and influence senior stakeholders without formal authority
Experience working across HR, Technology, Finance and Payroll in integrated operating models
A balance of strategic thinking and hands‑on delivery leadership
Experience working in federated or complex organisational structures (desirable)
You will also be required to hold (or be willing to obtain) a National Police Check and Working with Children Check, and demonstrate flexibility around peak event periods.
What’s to love?
Career development with a range of formal education and on the job training opportunities
Monthly health & wellbeing activities with access to CorePlus Pilates
Onsite gym, tennis facilities & free onsite car parking
Salary packaging & a range of discounts from our sponsorship partners
We are proud to be recognised as an employer of choice for women by WORK180
