Job description
Description:
An independent governance and accountability initiative is seeking a Swiss-qualified lawyer to support ongoing proceedings involving legally and factually complex issues relating to employment, insurance, governance, compliance, and related contentious proceedings in an international context. Certain matters may involve heightened reputational, institutional or political sensitivity.
The engagement is retainer-based and flexible, with an expected average workload broadly equivalent to up to approximately 20% full-time equivalent, although actual needs may vary depending on procedural developments and filing deadlines. The role is primarily remote, but may occasionally require in-person appearances or meetings in Switzerland.
The successful candidate will work within a coordinated litigation and procedural framework and assist with legal drafting, filings, procedural representation where appropriate, case management, and implementation of litigation strategy.
Applications from junior practitioners or recently admitted lawyers are welcome. Experience level is less important than professionalism, responsiveness, sound judgment, procedural discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to execute effectively under pressure.
Key responsibilities:
Represent clients before institutional counterparties, judicial, administrative, and regulatory authorities
Prepare and assist with submissions, appeals, and related proceedings under strict deadlines
Support litigation strategy and procedural coordination
Provide substitution coverage and procedural continuity where required
Coordinate with investigators, external experts, and advisors, as needed
Essential requirements:
Based in Switzerland
Admitted to practice law before Swiss courts (avocat.e / Rechtsanwalt.in)
Professional fluency in both French and English (written and oral)
Strong drafting skills and procedural discipline
Comfortable handling contentious matters and procedural deadlines
Ability to work independently within a coordinated legal and litigation framework
Pragmatic, responsive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented working style
High professional ethics, discretion, reliability, and sound judgment
Ability to manage sensitive matters professionally and confidentially
Desirable qualifications and experience:
Fluency in German
Experience involving international organizations or international administrative tribunals
Exposure to employment, administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings
Experience handling complex documentary records and evidentiary analysis
Familiarity with investigations, compliance, governance, or internal review processes
Prior exposure to contentious or institutionally sensitive matters
Terms of engagement:
Retainer-based consulting arrangement
Flexible and results-oriented collaboration
Primarily remote, with occasional in-person appearances or meetings as required
Scope of work may evolve depending on procedural developments
Potential for continued collaboration within a boutique litigation and advisory framework
