Main Functions
Role Overview
We are seeking a curious and driven Research Scientist to support the development of next‑generation, high‑performance yeast and bacterial strains. Reporting to the R&D Director, this role combines hands‑on laboratory work, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication to translate microbial science into industrial solutions that support our commercial portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to microbial strain development and improvement projects
Design, execute, analyze, and document laboratory experiments with strong scientific rigor
Develop and validate new assays, methods, and experimental approaches aligned with business needs
Communicate scientific results through reports, presentations, training sessions, and conferences
Write, maintain, and adhere to standard operating procedures
Collaborate cross‑functionally and contribute to a safe, efficient laboratory environment
Technical skills
Required
o PhD or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in microbiology, biochemistry, chemical/biochemical engineering, food chemistry, or related fields
o Strong knowledge of microbial physiology, genetics, and metabolic pathways
o Hands‑on experience in microbial strain improvement and familiarity with molecular engineering approaches
o Experience with statistical analysis and data handling
o Understanding and practical experience with analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, LC‑MS/MS, GC‑MS, IC, UV‑Vis, enzymatic and colorimetric assays)
o An advanced level of English, both spoken and written, is required due to the tasks associated with the position, including: the preparation and presentation of scientific results (reports, training sessions, conferences), as well as the writing of scientific articles and the reading of specialized publications. The incumbent will be required to use this language on a daily basis.
