Job Description ISP School Head of Marketing Role Profile Purpose of the Role The Head of Marketing consistently strives for outstanding performance across all professional standards, delivering successful outcomes and ensuring efficient and effective administrative operations. This role helps the school become the first choice in our local market (“Schools of Choice”). As a member of the administrative team, the Head of Marketing provides a friendly and welcoming service to students, staff, families, and visitors in a manner that truly reflects the values of our school. The post holder is expected to prioritize tasks and manage their workload with minimal supervision, ensuring that marketing strategies, protocols, and procedures maximize student retention, drive enrolment growth, build a credible and positive public image, and strengthen both the School and ISP brands across Portugal. ISP School Head of Marketing – Key Responsibilities Corporate Identity Lead the development of a brand architecture and establish a framework within which the school should operate, including a clearly defined corporate identity and brand playbook. Act as guardian of the brand, ensuring it is used properly and consistently across all channels. Support the school in the creation and consistent use of its stories and promises. Serve as community manager, guiding and supporting the school in developing stories to share on social media, ensuring corporate identity is maintained and promotional efforts maximized. Create and execute the school’s annual Marketing Plan. Work in close collaboration with the Admissions Department to design strategies that attract and retain students. Design and create document templates, marketing collateral, and informative posters. Conduct market research and analysis. Develop, update, and manage the school website and social media platforms, ensuring regular postings and high-quality imagery. Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses and relocation agencies as part of student recruitment activities. External and Internal Events Lead planning and participation in all school events for prospective and current families and students. Develop promotional materials and coordinate all communications activities related to such events, including press releases. ISP Student Activities & Event Promotion Support and promote communications that drive active participation of students and families in ISP-wide activities and events (e.g. ILOS). Produce regular newsletters and bulletins for staff and families, including termly magazines and yearbooks. Attend, document, and photograph important school events for use in communications and marketing. Other Responsibilities Report to Central Office on all marketing matters and actively seek guidance and support from regional staff, including resources and ISP collateral. Provide general administrative support for the school’s marketing needs. Deliver fortnightly progress updates on marketing to the Head of School. Support Academic Heads with student events. Hold PR events with key stakeholder groups. Provide a marketing perspective for all parent-facing activities. Support the Parent Committee. Work closely alongside the Head of Admissions. Keep school calendars up to date for all stakeholders. Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related business discipline. 5–10 years’ relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in education, though not essential. Native-level English and Portuguese, Spanish will be considered an advantage. Flexible, positive, and proactive “can-do” attitude. Full understanding of Equal Opportunities and ability to implement it in everyday practice. Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve issues quickly and professionally. Excellent management skills and ability to follow the school’s disciplinary code. Desirable: Experience in both business and academic environments. Agency management, project management, brand development, communications, event organization, content development, copywriting, social media, and digital marketing experience. Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively. Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills. Proven experience in PR and advertising across different media and channels. High degree of computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, PowerBi). Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital and social media. Excellent leadership skills with both internal staff and external stakeholders. Strong negotiation skills with media and agencies. Self-motivated with a positive, professional approach to management. High creativity and flexibility. Excellent skills in communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, multitasking, analysis, and results orientation. Approachable to children, families, and staff. Flexible, friendly, professional, and cooperative when working with colleagues.
