Job description

1. Trade P&L & Accounting Owning the month-end close process for a range of product groups and legal entities Reviewing and analysing Trade P&L, inventory valuations, accruals and balance sheet accounts Performing reconciliations between the trade capture system and accounting/tax declaration systems Regularly engaging with commercially-focused teams (operations, commercial analysts) and middle/back-office teams (IT systems, treasury, settlements, contracts) to understand commercial activity captured in the trading system Ensuring all transactions are recorded, documented and supported in line with company policies 2. Financial Reporting & Compliance Preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Chinese GAAP, including statutory accounts and management accounts Supporting the annual external audit process Assisting with tax-accounting reconciliation and identifying key tax-accounting differences 3. Settlements & Operations Coordinating and executing daily deal settlements and VAT special invoice flows Ensuring timely and accurate processing in collaboration with relevant internal teams 4. Process Improvement & Projects Contributing to adhoc projects, including integrating new business developments and supporting IT system improvement initiatives Continuously assessing and improving accounting processes and controls 5. Finance Manager Support Assisting the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and projects as directed Other duties as assigned Successful Candidates will: Demonstrate strong accountability, self-motivation and ownership of deliverables, with a proactive approach to ambiguous problems. Bring a strong learning ability — picking up new concepts, systems and workflows quickly in a fast-paced environment. Manage time effectively, prioritising competing tasks across multiple workstreams and meeting tight deadlines. Build relationships across global teams and communicate clearly and openly with colleagues across offices and departments. Continuously assess, improve and optimise processes and controls. Job Skillset / Knowledge: Accounting: Solid knowledge of China accounting standards (China GAAP) and IFRS, with strong bookkeeping skills and hands-on experience in financial statement preparation. Candidates with group reporting experience are preferred. Taxation: Working knowledge of major Chinese tax categories (VAT, CIT, etc.), with the ability to independently perform tax-accounting reconciliations, identify key differences, and support tax declaration processes. Tools: Excellent Excel skills (including pivot tables, functions, and building auxiliary working papers). Experience with BI analysis software is preferred. Language: Good English reading and writing skills, with the ability to use English as a working language. Bachelor’s degree or above, majoring in finance, accounting or related field. CPA License is preferred 5-8 years of experience in accounting (subject to adjustment based on market conditions) Experience of Big Four accounting firms and/or a background in commodity trading, retail, manufacturing, or complex supply chain enterprises are preferred.
