Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox. Fort Knox prioritizes being a strong contributor to the State and local communities, and since 2001, has helped support more than 300 community partners and has contributed more than US$25 million to the Alaska Mental Health Trust. Job Description Provide administrative assistance for the Health & Safety department the Fort Knox Mine. Maintain records and files, computer input, tour and event coordination and other related duties as assigned. Continue to improve and streamline the administrative processes and continuously align daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. Job Responsibilities Provide advice and assistance to various departments. Maintain Health & Safety departments’ records and files and retrieve information as required. Maintain electronic filing systems for department to fulfill obligations of permitting, reporting and general record upkeep. Maintain safety and training records and assist in organizing regular safety meetings for the group. Coordinate school tours and assist with other community tours as requested. Champion and serve as the main point of contact for on-site or other internal events or campaigns such as Annual MSHA refresher, Family Day, LOVA, wellness programs and Clean-up Day. Attend community events, conventions and conferences as appropriate. Serve as a Log keeper during EMQ Crisis Communication trainings or actual events. Coordinate and champion external site sponsored events such as fundraising campaigns, Golden Days Parade, Youth Safety Day and Mining Day at the Fair, as requested. Become a Certified Drug Collector to assist with site drug collection needs. Keep Admin lunchroom and Main Conference room stocked. Use JDE to create, manage and release work orders and requisitions. Maintain monthly and yearly work orders for multiple departments. Attend meetings and prepare minutes as requested by departments. Estimated travel based on current job requirements is (5-10%). Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance. Punctuality and regular attendance is required. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications and Skill Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records. General understanding of mining and exploration operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations. Proficient knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Must have Three (3) plus years of related work experience. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a member of the shared services team. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends. Reporting Relationships This role reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
