We are especially proud of our recent Great Place To Work® certification, which reflects an independent assessment of our culture and our team member experiences.  About The Role We are seeking an As-Needed Senior Community Planner who will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of General Plans, Specific/Master Plans, Housing Elements, Zoning Code updates, land use analyses, and other community planning related projects. The position will also support Rincon’s CEQA team through the analysis of environmental impacts resulting from planning and development projects. The candidate must have knowledge of land use/community planning and CEQA concepts, be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  How We Collaborate This role may offer a hybrid work setup, blending time in the office with remote work as business needs evolve. We enjoy coming together in person to collaborate, connect with teammates, and partner with clients, and may prioritize candidates who live within 50 miles of a Rincon office. Eligible office locations for this role include Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.  (Please note: While this role's location is listed as a single location, we encourage you to apply if you reside in or near any of the CA locations listed above.)  What You’ll Do Assist with the preparation of General Plans, Community Plans, Housing Elements, Master/Specific Plans, and/or other comprehensive planning documentsAssist with the preparation of zoning codes, permitting policies, and/or development standards, with a particular emphasis on housingConduct research and develop recommendations on land use, community facilities, housing, and transportation to control and guide community development and renewalPrepare, coordinate, and facilitate public involvement and consensus-building meetings and workshopsReview plan sets for consistency with local codes and regulationsInteract with various members of public agency and private client staff on matters related to land use planning and CEQA/NEPA compliancePrepare drafts of technical memoranda, meeting minutes, transmittals, presentations, and other written materialsAssist with the preparation of all levels of CEQA/NEPA documents as neededPromote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction to our public and private clients.Enhance Rincon’s professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing Rincon in a professional mannerPerform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)What You’ll Bring BA/BS degree or higher in urban planning, geography or a related disciplinePossess 6+ years of related demonstrated experience in land use planning, land development/entitlements, urban design and/or environmental planningKnowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices & techniques of planningExcellent communication, organizational, writing and presentation skills Ability to cultivate and maintain effective client, interagency and internal team relationshipsDetail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and to manage multiple projects, deadlines, priorities, and teamsMust possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel as projects requireInvesting in You The base salary range for this full-time position is $50.00-$120.00 per hour plus a generous benefits program. Salary ranges are based on the market median of similar jobs, according to third-party salary benchmark surveys. Base pay is determined based on internal equity and a candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards Package designed to support employee well-being, growth, and financial security. Our benefits are designed to offer flexibility and choice, including health coverage options, employer-sponsored insurance, retirement benefits, generous time off, and programs that support learning, growth, and community engagement. Explore more about our culture, benefits, and life at Rincon on our Culture and Benefits page.  Additional Employment Information Individuals offered employment must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.
