Job description
The Assistant Manager supports the effective delivery of the University’s Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) operations by ensuring accurate, timely and compliant administration of key people development programmes. This includes administering bond deeds and scholarships, providing end‑to‑end administrative support for training and development activities, managing absentee payroll matters, and overseeing invoicing, claims and charging to Colleges & Schools. In addition, the role plays a key part in driving automation and digitalisation efforts, working closely with internal stakeholders to streamline learning workflows, standardise processes. The Assistant Manager contributes to the review and improvement of L&OD processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and service controls to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance. Through the consistent execution of these operational processes, the role enables the smooth functioning as well as improvement of staff development initiatives, supports financial and governance requirements, and ensures accountability in the use of development resources. The role contributes to the University’s broader mission by providing reliable operational infrastructure that supports staff capability building, workforce sustainability and institutional excellence. Key Responsibilities: Provide end‑to‑end operational support for Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) activities, including administration of bond deeds and scholarships, training and development coordination, absentee payroll support, and management of invoicing, claims and charging to Schools. Ensure accurate, timely and compliant execution of L&OD operational processes in accordance with University policies, service standards and governance requirements, supporting effective utilisation of development resources. Drive L&OD automation and digitalisation efforts by partnering with internal stakeholders to streamline learning workflows, reduce manual processing and improve data accuracy and operational efficiency. Review, standardise and maintain L&OD processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and service controls to ensure consistency, scalability, audit readiness and compliance. Serve as a key operational point of contact for Schools, OHR, Finance and Payroll teams, facilitating coordination, resolving operational issues and supporting continuous improvement in L&OD service delivery. Requirements: Degree in Administration or Human Resources areas Good knowledge of HR recruitment processes and employment‑related regulations is advantageous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels. Proven ability to manage high‑volume transactions with accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgement. Proficiency in HR systems (e.g. Workday) and Microsoft Office applications is an advantage.
