Job description

SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION The School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the seven Faculties/Schools of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. SCE also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operating on a self-financed basis, SCE including its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time instructors. SCE is inviting applications for the following position: Assistant Programme Officer (Ref No.26270157) SCE is at an advanced stage of progressing towards its registration as a post-secondary college under the applicable law, with completion expected to be within a year. This transformation aims to enhance the internationalisation and diversification of higher education through distinctive, professional programmes that address societal manpower needs. As part of this exciting institutional evolution, successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to transition to the new post-secondary college (upon its successful registration) under a long-term development plan. The appointee will be responsible for providing operational and administrative assistance to the academic/teaching-related matters at the College of International Education (CIE) at the Shatin Shek Mun Campus. Major duties are composed of but not limited to: a) providing general clerical and secretarial support; b) providing administrative assistance to the programme operation, such as venue and material arrangement of learning activities; c) providing on-site and logistic support to student development activities, outreach activities, and the College’s functions; and d) running and coordinating programme activities, including internship work, site visit, and study tour. Requirements: (i) Holder of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma with at least one year of work experience; OR (ii) Possession of HKCEE 5 passes including English Language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007) and Chinese Language (at least Level 2 from 2007), or at least 5 subjects attaining Level 2 in HKDSE including English Language and Chinese Language, or Yi Jin graduates, with more work experience; holder of Bachelor's degree preferred; Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua); Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently; and Proficiency in computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing). Subject to the decision of SCE and the new post-secondary college and other factors which may include (but are not limited to) availability of funding and performance, an offer of appointment may be made by the new post-secondary college (upon its successful registration) following the end of the fixed term contract.
