Local 2 About the Role The Banquet Houseperson helps create exceptional meetings, celebrations, and special events by ensuring all banquet and event spaces are thoughtfully prepared, immaculate, and ready for service. This position is responsible for setting up, refreshing, and breaking down event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders and hotel standards. With attention to detail, a welcoming demeanor, and a strong commitment to teamwork, the Banquet Houseperson contributes to the seamless execution and personalized service expected in a luxury hotel. Your Day to Day Event Setup and Breakdown Review Banquet Event Orders, floor plans, and daily assignments to understand event requirements, timelines, and special requests. Set up tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, podiums, easels, linens, and other banquet equipment according to approved layouts and hotel standards. Ensure room arrangements are precise, consistent, and ready for inspection within established timelines. Assist with room changes, event transitions, and last-minute setup adjustments as directed. Break down event spaces promptly and carefully, returning equipment and supplies to designated storage areas. Cleanliness and Presentation Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of banquet rooms, pre-function areas, service corridors, and storage spaces. Clean and inspect banquet furniture and equipment before and after use. Refresh meeting rooms during scheduled breaks, including removing debris, straightening furnishings, and replenishing assigned supplies. Keep exits, service routes, and access to emergency equipment clear. Report damaged equipment, maintenance needs, and safety concerns promptly. Guest Service and Teamwork Greet guests warmly and respond to requests with professionalism, discretion, and a sense of urgency. Anticipate guest and event needs within the scope of the position, communicating requests to the appropriate team member. Coordinate with banquet service, catering, culinary, housekeeping, engineering, and audiovisual teams to support successful events. Handle guest belongings and event materials with care, following hotel procedures. Maintain professional grooming, appearance, and conduct consistent with luxury hospitality standards. Equipment and Safety Safely transport, organize, and store banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies using designated carts and handling equipment. Follow established lifting procedures and use team assistance when moving heavy or oversized items. Assist with equipment inventories and report shortages or damage. Follow hotel procedures for cleaning products, equipment use, workplace safety, and lost and found. Perform other related duties as assigned. What We Need From You Basic reading and writing and mathematical skills. General knowledge of banquet operations preferred. This job requires ability to perform the following: Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds (tables, chairs, trays, equipment, etc.). Moving about the function areas Bending, stooping, kneeling Other: Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, coworkers, and supervisors Reading and writing abilities are utilized often with banquet event orders and instructions Basic math is used frequently to ensure the proper set up of tables, settings, chairs, etc. May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays What We Offer The hourly pay for this role is $35.41 .
