Enable life-saving therapies.Scientific Protein Laboratories (SPL) is a global leader in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, supporting the production of critical therapies that improve and save lives worldwide.We are seeking a Calibration Specialist to advance the reliability and accuracy of production, research, and quality control instruments at our Waunakee, WI facility. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with mentorship, SOP development, and support of our Calibration and Metrology Information System (CMIS).What You’ll DoAs a Calibration Specialist you will:Perform calibration on a wide variety of instruments across disciplines including electronic, pneumatic, physical, dimensional, and analytical measurements. Examples include recorders, controllers, transducers, flow, pressure, temperature, mass, humidity, radar, pH, conductivity, gas sensors, moisture analyzers, autoclaves, and spectrophotometers.Develop, write, and execute calibration SOPs, technical reports, charts, graphs, and schematics to document instrument performance, deviations, malfunctions, and functional limitations.Lead or assist in the calibration of new and existing process and laboratory equipment, ensuring all systems meet cGMP compliance standards.Maintain and administer the Calibration and Metrology Information System (CMIS), providing recommendations and insights to support system improvements.Train and mentor junior or less-experienced personnel in calibration procedures and best practices.Oversee third-party contractors performing calibration services, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance.What Success Looks LikeInstruments and equipment maintain precise, reliable calibration, supporting consistent manufacturing and research outcomes.Calibration SOPs, records, and reports are thorough, accurate, and compliant with cGMP standards.Junior personnel are effectively trained and supported in calibration tasks.Continuous improvement initiatives in calibration and metrology are identified and implemented.Internal and external stakeholders rely on your technical expertise and guidance.What You BringRequired:Associate’s degree or equivalent technical education5+ years of experience in calibration, metrology, or related instrumentation rolesStrong technical knowledge across multiple measurement disciplinesAbility to perform precise, high-stakes work in a regulated environmentExcellent communication and collaboration skillsPreferred:Bachelor’s degree or higher10+ years of experience in calibration within pharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated manufacturingExperience writing calibration SOPs, performing metrology analyses, and training staffFamiliarity with CMIS or similar calibration management systemsWhy Join SPL?Meaningful work supporting life-saving biologically based therapeutics used worldwideCompetitive compensation package including base salary and recognition programs401(k) with company match to support your long-term financial goalsGenerous paid time off (PTO) and paid holidaysCareer development and leadership growth opportunities within a global biopharmaceutical organizationCollaborative, science-driven culture that values integrity, accountability, and continuous improvementHigh quality of life in Waunakee, WI!
