As a CBS professional, you will work across teams to provide the financial discipline, operational support, and governance that enable EY to deliver exceptional client service and support sustainable growth. The opportunity EY Malaysia is seeking a Financial Reporting Associate to support financial accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and compliance activities within CBS Finance. This role contributes to the accuracy and integrity of financial information by supporting recurring finance processes, maintaining appropriate documentation, and helping ensure timely completion of reporting and statutory requirements. You will work closely with finance colleagues, business stakeholders, and external service providers to resolve accounting matters and deliver reliable financial support across the organisation. Your key responsibilities Financial Accounting & Period-End Reporting • Support recurring accounting activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries for items such as accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities to support timely and accurate financial reporting • Prepare and maintain balance sheet schedules, supporting analyses, and other financial records • Review account balances, investigate variances, and follow up on reconciling or outstanding items • Support general ledger review and account clean-up activities Reconciliations, Receivables & Cash Flow Support • Prepare bank and account reconciliations and follow up on identified differences • Support cash flow forecasting and the monitoring of working capital information • Review accounts receivable ageing and coordinate follow-up on outstanding balances with relevant stakeholders • Work with internal teams to support billing, collection, credit control, and related reporting activities Tax, Statutory & Audit Support • Assist in preparing information, schedules, and working papers for indirect tax, corporate tax, and other statutory requirements • Support periodic tax estimates, reconciliations, submissions, and related compliance activities • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits • Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, company secretarial providers, and other external parties on routine compliance matters Stakeholder Management & Servic e Delivery • Collaborate with finance colleagues and business stakeholders to obtain information, resolve queries, and complete deliverables • Provide timely and accurate support on financial reporting and accounting matters • Maintain complete and organised records to support governance, controls, and audit requirements Continuous Improvement & Team Collaboration • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of finance processes • Contribute to process standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives within CBS Finance • Work collaboratively across teams and provide support for other finance activities and ad hoc requirements when needed Skills and attributes for success • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work • Good understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial controls • Ability to organise work, manage competing priorities, and meet recurring deadlines • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve variances • Clear communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels • Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a team To qualify for the role, you must have • A bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Relevant experience in financial accounting, reporting, general ledger, or finance operations • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel • Familiarity with enterprise finance or accounting systems • A sound understanding of financial reporting processes and basic tax or statutory compliance requirements Ideally, you’ll also have • Experience in a shared services, corporate finance, or professional services environment • Exposure to month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, receivables, tax, or audit support • Experience working with cross-functional teams or external professional advisers What we look for Highly motivated individuals who are dependable, organised, and committed to delivering accurate financial information.
