Job description

ABOUT KINSTEAD Kinstead helps nurse practitioners launch and run their own independent practices. We replace the fragmented, manual infrastructure behind healthcare with a single, intelligent system so clinicians can spend their time on care, not paperwork. This creates a new model of care, one where clinicians practice on their terms and patients get consistent, community-rooted care. We recently closed an oversubscribed round backed by Wisdom Ventures, Expansion VC, Roo Capital, and healthcare leaders from Flatiron Health, Pomelo Care, and Roivant Sciences. - 50+ nurse practitioners across Massachusetts, Maryland, and Connecticut, expanding along the East Coast - New practices launching every week, with strong inbound demand from NPs - Monthly patient visits up 3x in a single quarter (June to September 2026) - Our own technology platform: every practice is moving onto Kinstead-built EHR and billing infrastructure THE ROLE Kinstead is scaling fast, and the founders need a third operator. As Chief of Staff, you'll run the systems that keep every Kinstead practice running, take on the most important problem in the company each month, and make sure our NPs get what they need when something goes wrong. The work changes every couple of months as we grow, so you'll go wherever the biggest problem is. You'll work directly with Taylor (CEO) and Parth (COO) and manage our ops specialist. If you want to write strategy decks, this isn't the job. If you want to own real problems and fix them yourself, it is. WHAT YOU'LL OWN 50%: Running the systems and operations - Vendor management. Hold our RCM, credentialing, front desk, and phone vendors to scorecards and SLAs. You're the first call when one of them breaks. - Credentialing and licensure. Keep NP licenses, payer enrollment, and expirables on track across states. - RevOps and reporting. Build and run the monthly view of the business: practice growth, revenue, spend, and runway. 30%: The founders' most pressing problem of the month - Whatever matters most right now. A new state license, a payer issue, a partnership launch, an AI workflow to replace a manual one. You take it from "we should" to done. 20%: Customer success and escalations - Own the NP experience when something goes wrong, from how to do something in the EHR to how a payout was calculated. - Fix the root cause so the same question stops coming, and feed what you hear back into product. FIRST 90 DAYS 1. Days 1–30: Take things off the founders' plates. Own vendor escalations and NP ops questions from week one. Sit in on everything and map where the time goes. 2. Days 31–60: Build the systems. Vendor scorecards, a clean credentialing and licensure tracker, and a self-serve answer for the most common NP questions. 3. Days 61–90: Run the business rhythm. Ship the first monthly operating report, run the weekly ops review, and take one major founder project from start to finish. WHO YOU ARE - About 2 years in management consulting or investment banking, then 2–3 years at a Series A or B startup, ideally in healthcare. - You've done the grind. Long hours, high standards, and getting the details right don't scare you. - You execute. You've fixed a broken process yourself and kept it running week after week, not just recommended a fix. - Fluent with AI, with your own judgment. You use AI tools to do the work of three people, and you know when the output is wrong. - Comfortable with chaos. Your job will look different in six months. You like that. - You want to start a company someday. Not next year, but in the next few. You want to learn how it's done first. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN This role is built for someone who wants to found a company. Over the next 2–4 years, you'll learn: - How a healthcare company actually works: payer contracting, credentialing, revenue cycle, and the PC-MSO model. - How to scale a two-sided business with NPs on one side and patients on the other. - How fundraising works up close: investor updates, board prep, and how the founders make the call. - How to build with AI from day one, at a company that runs on agents and small teams. - How your role can grow with the company: As Kinstead evolves, you'll have opportunities to take on new areas of ownership and, over time, move into a different role where the company's needs and your strengths align. When you're ready to start your own company, we'll support you however we can. COMPENSATION AND LOGISTICS - Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 - Equity: Meaningful early-stage equity - Location: New York City, in office 4 days a week - Type: Full-time At Kinstead, we’re building infrastructure for healthcare that serves entire communities—not just a narrow slice of them. That requires a team with diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and ways of thinking. We are committed to hiring people from a wide range of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, religion, disability, and veteran status. We believe better teams build better systems—and better systems lead to better care. We aim to pay competitively for our stage and the importance of the work. Compensation includes base salary, meaningful equity, and benefits, and is designed to align long-term incentives with the impact you’ll have at Kinstead. In accordance with applicable laws, we provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. Final compensation will depend on a number of factors, including experience, skillset, and leveling, as well as internal equity considerations. For this role, the estimated base salary range is $150,000 to $200,000.
