About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer (w/m/d) to join our dynamic team in Stuttgart or Georgsmarienhütte. In this role, you will be at the forefront of deploying, operating, and maintaining customer cloud environments primarily on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Your responsibilities will include managing remote server operations as part of our Managed Service offerings, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of cloud infrastructures. You will design, implement, and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible, with version control systems like Git. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative environment, collaborating closely with clients’ IT departments to optimize network connectivity, security, and system reliability. The role also involves continuous monitoring of systems using tools like Zabbix and Grafana, incident management, and participating in on-call rotations to support critical business operations. If you are passionate about cloud technology, automation, and delivering exceptional service, this role provides a platform to grow your expertise within a supportive and expanding organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid educational background in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field, complemented by extensive practical experience in managing AWS cloud environments. Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and version control platforms such as GitHub is essential. You should have strong knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize server operations. Familiarity with database management systems like MS SQL and PostgreSQL is required, along with experience in network configuration, VPN technologies, firewall management, and secure connectivity, preferably with hands-on experience with OPNsense firewalls. Excellent communication skills in both German and English are necessary to engage effectively with technical teams and clients. A good understanding of cybersecurity principles, especially within ISO-27001 compliant environments, will be advantageous. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to system monitoring, incident resolution, and service improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include managing and maintaining Windows-based and Red Hat Linux environments, ensuring system stability and security. You will oversee the operation and troubleshooting of database systems, focusing on MS SQL and PostgreSQL, to ensure data integrity and performance. Responsible for network operations, you will configure and support VPN connections between AWS and client environments, manage OPNsense firewalls, and maintain secure, reliable connectivity. Engaging with client IT teams, you will discuss network design, security policies, and resolve connectivity issues effectively. Continuous system monitoring using tools like Zabbix and Grafana is vital to proactively identify and address potential incidents. You will follow IT Service Management processes, including incident, problem, and change management, utilizing Jira Service Management. Additionally, you will participate in on-call support schedules to ensure that critical systems remain operational, meeting service level agreements. The role requires a commitment to ongoing learning and improvement, contributing to the development of cloud infrastructure and security practices aligned with industry standards.
Benefits
