We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Concrete Laborer / Steel Tier to join our construction team. This position is responsible for assisting with heavy highway, roadway, civil, and concrete construction projects. The primary duties include placing and securing reinforcing steel (rebar), preparing work areas, assisting with concrete operations, and performing general labor tasks to support successful project completion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Place, cut, bend, and tie reinforcing steel according to project plans and specifications. Install rebar, wire mesh, dowels, and other reinforcement materials for concrete structures. Read tape measures and assist in interpreting construction drawings and layouts. Assist with concrete placement, finishing, curing, and protection activities. Operate hand and power tools such as rebar cutters, benders, grinders, saws, and drills. Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment. Assist with forming, grading, excavation, and site preparation activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements. Work alongside equipment operators, concrete crews, and supervisors to complete projects efficiently. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in concrete construction, rebar installation, steel tying, or heavy civil construction preferred. Ability to use and maintain hand and power tools safely. Knowledge of concrete reinforcement methods and construction practices preferred. Ability to read and follow construction plans, specifications, and directions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Reliable transportation and punctual attendance. Preferred Qualifications 1 - 2 years experience on roadway, highway, utility, or civil construction projects. Experience operating small equipment such as skid steers, compactors, or forklifts. OSHA 10 certification or other construction safety training. Valid driver's license preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and humidity. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as needed. Work Environment Work is performed on heavy highway, roadway, bridge, commercial, and civil construction projects. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, mud, noise, vibration, and uneven terrain. Requires working around heavy equipment, construction vehicles, excavation areas, and active concrete operations. Fast-paced environment with changing priorities and project schedules. May require early morning starts, extended work hours, overtime, weekends, and occasional travel to project sites. Must consistently follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and steel-toed boots. Requires teamwork and coordination with foremen, equipment operators, concrete crews, surveyors, and other construction personnel to meet production and quality goals.
