About the role
The Casino Controller is a key financial leader responsible for safeguarding the integrity of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with gaming regulations, and driving operational excellence. This role oversees core accounting functions, supervises financial and audit staff, and partners with executive leadership to deliver accurate financial insights that support strategic growth and operational efficiency.
What you'll do
Produces timely monthly financial statements that summarize and forecast Casino business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings.
Lead and optimize accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across general ledger, AP, payroll, and audit functions.
Reviews and audits reconciliations of general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers for accuracy.
Assists the DOF in preparing the annual budget and perform monthly budget variance explanations.
Partners with Directors with compilation and preparation of departmental budgets.
Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to management.
Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
Prepares regulatory filings, forms and reports as required.
Maintain compliance with state gaming laws, regulatory requirements, and internal control policies.
Establish, monitor, and enforce strong internal controls to protect company assets.
Oversee daily audits of casino revenue and cage operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other third parties as needed.
Serves on the Title 31 Committee with an active role in quality control and compliance.
Develops and monitors business performance metrics
Provides administrative oversight to ensure negotiation of contracts and purchase agreements by obtaining best pricing, in terms of leases, and warranties.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the audit team, accounts payable & payroll specialist, and staff accountant.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA/CMA required.
5–7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role in the casino industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance, within the gaming or hospitality industry.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and payroll data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, experience with casino systems - such as Sage, CasinoEdge Intacct, Rippling.
