ABOUT Hermosa Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come. WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS • Annual short-term incentive bonus that recognizes both your individual performance and the overall success of the business. • When you choose to contribute more into your retirement savings, South32 will match it up to a certain percentage. • South32 provides you with 4 weeks paid time off. • 12 weeks full-paid parental leave for primary careers and 2 weeks full-paid parental leave for secondary careers ABOUT THE ROLE The Construction Coordinator – Mechanical, Concentrator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing day-to-day construction activities supporting the Concentrator and associated project infrastructure. This role works closely with contractors, subcontractors, project teams, and internal stakeholders to help ensure construction is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements. The position will coordinate activities across process facilities and supporting infrastructure, including surface infrastructure, roads, dams, water treatment facilities, power infrastructure, maintenance and administrative buildings, and other onsite and offsite works. Key areas of responsibility include contractor coordination, construction planning and scheduling, progress reporting, health and safety, environmental compliance, quality, community relations, logistics, and construction performance. This role is based at the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona. Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: • Manage and coordinate site construction contractors and subcontractors on a daily basis. • Ensure construction activities and services are performed in accordance with S32 environmental and community relations policies, plans, and commitments. • Assist with the preparation of Sourcing Strategies for major works packages as required • Prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly construction and progress reports. • Reviews and provides input to project construction schedules • Implement remedial recovery action as required • Ensure compliance with S32 Change Management processes. • Coordinate the timely delivery of construction services to internal stakeholders. • Provides input to contractor risk assessments • Ensure that S32 Virtual Design and Construction initiatives are executed in accordance with applicable S32 technology objectives • Monitor VDC and BXP technology objectives utilizing the S32 approved VDC and BXP metrics • Works with Project Services to ensure that equipment and material deliveries are coordinated and ensure that Care & Perseveration requirements are correctly implemented and documented • Organizes and oversees the maintenance and safe, effective utilization of tools, equipment, supplies, and inventories • Assists with the compilation of construction documentation for upcoming work packages • Identifies contractor performance issues and works internal stakeholders to resolve issues • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and building code requirements including Federal, State, and Local • Ensures conformity with industry codes of practice and standards • Performs other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager ABOUT YOU You are an experienced construction professional who brings strong field leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders in a complex project environment. You are safety-focused, collaborative, organized, and comfortable working across disciplines and cultures. You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; relevant trade qualifications and/or equivalent experience may also be considered. Minimum 5 years of large-scale mining construction site management Demonstrated visible field safety leadership and an ability to drive safety and performance excellence Strong knowledge of construction methods, mechanical installation, and trade practices Strong and effective communication and engagement skills Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of professional and ethical conduct. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong English language written and oral communication skills Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, and union and non-union craft labor. Experience with project logistics, construction contracts, and vendor service contracts. Experience working with teams and interacting with customers Experience working in a cross-cultural setting Proven track record of developing and maintaining a strong safety culture.
