Custodian

**This is an evening shift position.** The custodian will work to create clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly and satisfying surroundings for the patients and employees of the Lee County Juniper Health locations (Medican, Dental and Administration). This position is considered full-time and the employee will work a total of 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend hours may be required. All Juniper Health employees will adhere to the Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) model and work to ensure that patients of all ages receive comprehensive, coordinated and patient-centered “whole patient” care. The employee will maintain confidentiality at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain facilities in sanitary and infection-free condition through cleaning and replacing of equipment and furnishings. Properly dispose of trash, bio waste and other disposable materials in well-organized containers daily. Have knowledge of bio waste procedures, such as when to empty, how to organize, etc. Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, buffers, and polishers. Wet mop all floors throughout facility daily. Cleans front entrance doors and windows daily. Clean sinks, mirrors, commodes, tubs and showers daily. Wax at applicable facilities, as assigned. Buff floors weekly, at applicable facilities. Dust a variety of areas in clinic. Move furniture and equipment, as needed. Provide blood spill kit for any areas, as needed. Cleans parking lot free of garbage and debris, as needed. Maintain a written log of duties for each shift. Identify safety issues and report to Maintenance Supervisor Fill out maintenance request forms for identified needs and/or safety issues. Maintain the confidentiality of all client-specific information and data, in accordance with processional practice norms. Keep inventory of janitorial supplies and notify Clinic Manager of items needing ordering, at least one week in advance. Stocks janitorial supplies and maintains neat and orderly janitorial closet. Ensure that patient exam rooms are clean, stocked and functioning. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required Experience: Zero to two years of experience in a medical field or in a related/customer service area is required. Computer Skills: Computer data entry, basic computer operating skills, Excel, Word preferred Other: Excellent communication skills, accuracy WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in a clinical and/or outdoor setting. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands required of the position are representative of those required of comparable professional positions and must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate, operate equipment, observe details at a close range, be in stationary or moving positions, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds or more. OTHER: The employee is expected to work and be available during regular business hours, however, extended hours and weekend work may be required.
