Learn more about GovTech at tech.gov.sg. What you will be working on GovTech's Anti Scam Products Team builds tech to detect, disrupt, and deter scammers at scale. You'll work across data infrastructure, AI/ML, and partner integrations to proactively protect citizens from fraud. As a Data Scientist, you'll own the full ML lifecycle — scoping problems with stakeholders, developing and deploying models, and operating production systems. You'll also help shape what we build next. The work spans data infrastructure, developing and deploying AI & ML to scale proactive detection, API connections to partners, as well as front-end systems for enforcement agencies. As a Data Scientist, you will be identifying opportunities for data exploitation through in depth conversations with business stakeholders which includes: Understand the evolving problems and strategize about what data and techniques would be needed to solve it Develop different machine learning models, track their effectiveness, and deploy the most appropriate solution Build and operate production systems independently (with light engineering support) together with engineers) to serve these solutions Present findings, solicit feedback and prioritize refinements to the analysis in close iteration with stakeholders while managing overall project timeline Identify potential projects that improve the public good Design novel systems that work around bureaucratic constraints Advocate and explain these technical ideas to other government agencies Rapid Prototyping - Instead of spending too much time debating ideas we prefer testing them. This identifies potential problems quickly, and more importantly, conveys what is possible to others easily. Ownership - In addition to technical responsibilities, this means having opinions on what is being done and having ideas on what should be done next. Building something that you believe in is the best way to build something good. Continuous Learning - Working on new ideas often means not fully understanding what you are working on. Taking time to learn new architectures, frameworks, technologies, and even languages is not just encouraged but essential. What we are looking for Willingness to understand the fraud/scam domain Effective and critical use of LLMs: able to leverage AI tools to move fast, while exercising judgment on output quality. Basic statistical data analytics (A/B test significance, rolling window analysis, confounder analysis) Experience in data wrangling, model development (e.g. classification, regression, outlier detection on tabular data, relational/graph data, embedding or a combination) and deployment (e.g. Sagemaker, TensorFlow) Foundational coding experience in Python (e.g. Git, package management/venv) Preferred requirements: Experience in Spark Experience in agentic frameworks (Langgraph) Experience in Neo4j or any graph database Experience in on-device ML Experience in stakeholder management Able to understand a few products and seek synergies between them for model development or product experimentation Our employee benefits are based on a total rewards approach, offering a holistic and market-competitive suite of perks.
