Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our IU Health’s leadership team in the role of Director of Communications (South Region). The Director of Communications (South Region) serves as the communications leader for the South Region and leads an enterprise communications portfolio at IU Health, shaping how internal and external audiences understand, experience and engage with the organization. A member of the Communications Executive Leadership Team, this leader serves as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner to regional executives and enterprise stakeholders. Leading a high-performing team, the director guides integrated communications approaches that advance organizational priorities, align with our values, inspire action and support business objectives. The director provides strategic counsel to leaders across the region and enterprise, anticipating communications needs, navigating complex and evolving issues and communicating with clarity, credibility and purpose, including during high-profile or sensitive situations. At the enterprise level, the director leads and contributes to high-impact communications work that requires extensive stakeholder coordination and strong business acumen. This leader advances best practices and promotes consistency across regions and functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and supporting initiatives across a complex healthcare system. The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative and business-minded communications leader who understands the critical role communications plays in developing solutions that advance organizational priorities, performance and culture in support of its mission. They are highly adaptable, with strong executive presence, sound judgment and a proven ability to translate complex business priorities into clear, thoughtful communications strategies that inspire understanding and engagement. This leader works effectively across functions and with diverse stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships with leaders and team members and strong engagement within the communities IU Health serves. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape communications that advance the South Region’s priorities and impact while influencing key initiatives across the enterprise. Through close partnership with leaders across Communications, the region and the broader organization, this individual will help ensure communications are delivered thoughtfully and with purpose, building understanding among key audiences. The director will contribute to the continued evolution of the communications function, fostering a positive team member experience and advancing practices that support leaders, engage team members and reinforce IU Health’s connection to the communities at the heart of its mission. Key Relationships Reports to : Vice President – Chief Communications Officer Candidate Qualifications Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies. Bachelor's Degree is required. Requires 8 plus years of relevant experience and 4 years of people leader experience. Requires experience managing multiple complex and often confidential projects involving multiple customers, interests and goals. Requires experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Requires experience with prior budget management authority and financial management. Knowledge of relevant state and national regulatory agency guidelines preferred.
