Position Overview The Early Career & Talent Programs Specialist provides day-to-day coordination, communication, tracking, and administrative support for established early-career and talent programs across the business. This role supports the New Hire Mentoring Program, Operations Management Trainee Program, and Internship Program by coordinating activities, monitoring participant progress, supporting training completion, and helping ensure employees and interns receive meaningful exposure, guidance, and development throughout their experience. The position also supports Learning & Development and talent initiatives through meeting coordination, documentation, reporting, and follow-up throughout the calendar year. Key Responsibilities New Hire Mentoring Program: Coordinate mentor assignments, new hire follow-up, progress tracking, and verification that newly hired hourly employees receive appropriate training, support, and feedback. Partner with Operations, HR, Safety, and department leaders to help new hires understand job expectations, complete required training, and access the tools and resources needed to be successful. Operations Management Trainee Program: Coordinate rotational assignments, maintain program schedules, track participant progress, and support exposure to relevant departments, business functions, and operational experiences. Internship Program: Coordinate intern onboarding, rotation schedules, department placements, learning experiences, feedback touchpoints, and end-of-program follow-up to support potential conversion to full-time employment. External Talent Pipeline Partnerships: Identify universities, community colleges, trade schools, technical programs, and other post-high school institutions that may serve as strategic partners for building a sustainable talent pipeline into the construction materials industry. Support relationships with educational institutions, career centers, workforce development organizations, and community partners to increase awareness of career pathways, internship opportunities, and early-career employment programs. Program Administration & Talent Support: Maintain accurate program records, participant rosters, training completion data, feedback documentation, and reports related to mentoring, trainee, internship, and talent development initiatives. Coordinate meetings, communications, calendar activities, materials, surveys, and follow-up items related to early-career programs, talent reviews, development planning, and other Learning & Development or talent initiatives. Collect feedback from participants, mentors, supervisors, interns, trainees, and business leaders to identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness, participant experience, and long-term talent outcomes. Prepare reports, presentations, status updates, and other materials to communicate program participation, training progress, feedback trends, open items, and recommended actions to HR, Operations, and business leadership. Provide coordination and administrative support to the Learning & Development team and assist with additional talent initiatives, meetings, projects, and events throughout the calendar year. Essential Duties Coordinate mentoring, management trainee, and internship program activities, including schedules, assignments, participant tracking, and follow-up. Partner with HR, Operations, Safety, and department leaders to support training completion, program engagement, and participant success. Maintain program records, reports, communications, and related documentation to support effective administration and decision-making. Support relationships with educational and workforce partners to strengthen early-career talent pipelines. Provide coordination and administrative support for talent meetings, initiatives, projects, and events. Qualifications Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field preferred. Prior experience in program coordination, administration, HR, learning and development, recruiting, workforce development, education, or operations support preferred but not required. Strong organizational, communication, follow-up, and relationship-building skills required; willingness to learn internal systems, processes, and industry-specific knowledge. Work Requirements Must be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Must follow all safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and business partners. Ability to travel throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee for meetings, office visits, school partnerships, and program events as needed; travel not to exceed 20%. Physical ability to participate in meetings, program events, and related activities at various offices or meeting spaces. Availability to work a standard full-time schedule with occasional flexibility based on program or business needs. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regional travel. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, details, records, follow-up items, and competing priorities. Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage hourly employees, interns, trainees, leaders, and external partners professionally. Strong relationship-building skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams, educational institutions, workforce partners, and community organizations. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate program documentation, participant tracking, reports, and communication materials. Proactive follow-through, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn internal programs, systems, processes, and industry-specific knowledge. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to communicate with others by telephone, laptop, and in person. Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations. May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Work Environment Usual office working conditions.
