Date: October 2026 Location: Port Elizabeth ZA _ MRS Company: Tenneco ABOUT THE ROLE The Application Engineer takes the lead and is responsible for the coordination of the technical side of the project: monitors progress and evaluates the results of projects. Assured that work performed follows generally stated objectives and is completed on time and within budget. The role demands communication and collaboration with multiple Internal teams, global teams, supplier partners and may require travelling to other locations based on project needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Executes or coordinates activities to design new products, modify existing designs and support production activities relating to OE/AM products. Manage all aspects of new product implementation, including customer communication for engineering activities, project management, bill of material and engineering drawings. Validation of product design by DV testing versus customer and internal engineering specifications. Make use of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. Initiating new business enquiries and costing bill of materials for quotation purposes during the feasibility study of any new / changed product enquiry Problem solving using problem solving tools and data driven techniques such as DMAIC, 8D, RCA & 5-why Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Maintains a working knowledge of company policies, technologies, design rules and procedures applicable to the engineering activities. Maintains a working knowledge of safety and environmental policies and regulations to ensure duties are performed in a safe manner. Support to Quality department through investigation and root cause determination of quality and warranty issues. QUALIFICATIONS (Education/ Experience/ Key Competencies) Degree in relevant engineering discipline Product engineering and project management role within the automotive manufacturing industry (4-6 years minimum) Reasoning Ability: Strong working knowledge of design and engineering principles centered around DFM & APQP processes. Proven skills in project management, consulting and negotiation, decision making, control and follow up, organizing and planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively summarize and present to all levels within the organization. Computer Skills: CAD, CAE, project management software, SAP systems and MS office applications.
