We offer an exciting range of opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and diverse team who always strive to do the right thing for our people, clients and communities. People are our greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent. In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us. We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business. About the Opportunity We are looking for a site based Environmental Advisor to join the Sizewell C Delivery Construction Team on one of the most exciting and challenging projects, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK. As an Environmental Advisor you will be part of a team of environmental professionals supporting the Construction Delivery Team working to ensure that all environmental & sustainability aspects of the project are managed effectively. You will work collaboratively with our Tier 1 Partners across the project to drive environmental performance and ensure compliance with the various Regulatory Consents and Permits in place. We are looking for an experienced, site-based environmental construction practitioner who enjoys being out in the field, working alongside delivery teams and contractors to identify risk early, solve practical problems and maintain high standards of environmental compliance. This is not a corporate ESG or reporting role. Responsibilities Carry out regular inspections of live construction areas, identify environmental risks and follow issues through to effective close-out. Provide clear, practical advice on UK environmental legislation, permits, consents and planning constraints affecting site activities. Work alongside construction teams and supply-chain partners to plan activities, improve controls and prevent environmental harm. Review contractors’ environmental management plans, method statements and RAMS to confirm that controls are suitable, compliant and workable in the field. Support assurance activities, including self-assessments and internal audits against legislation, Sizewell C requirements, the environmental management system and industry good practice. Lead or support investigations into environmental events, identify underlying causes and develop proportionate corrective actions that prevent recurrence. Recognise emerging contractual, consenting and compliance issues, escalating them clearly and proportionately to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager. Promote learning, positive intervention and continual improvement across the project. Here's What You'll Need Practical experience in an environmental management or advisory role on a major construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or industrial site. A strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to construction or industrial installations, supported by an understanding of regulatory guidance and industry good practice. Experience inspecting active work areas and applying environmental controls to activities such as earthworks, water management, waste, materials, ecology, dust, noise, lighting or pollution prevention. Confidence reviewing construction documentation and challenging contractors where controls are unclear, inadequate or not being implemented. An understanding of client and contractor responsibilities, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Experience working within an environmental management system aligned with ISO 14001:2015. The ability to work independently, prioritise risk and communicate effectively with operatives, supervisors, construction managers and senior stakeholders. A degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental or related discipline, or demonstrably equivalent site-based experience. Our Culture Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We put people at the heart of our business, and we genuinely believe that we all succeed by supporting one another through our culture of caring. We value positive mental health and a sense of belonging for all employees. We aim to embed inclusion in everything we do. We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected, and we’re more creative. We accept people for who they are, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, mental health, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave. This is reflected in our wide range of Global Employee Networks. We partner with VERCIDA to help us attract and retain diverse talent. As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy. We welcome applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working and from those who may not meet all the listed requirements for a role. If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process (for example, you require the application form in a different format), please contact the team. #RETURNERS26 #SZC
