The Field Applications Engineer Microcontrollers (FAEM) is responsible for partnering with Sales and providing MCU related technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. The FAEM proactively identifies current products and/or creative solutions to solve existing customer projects and create new functionality/opportunities. In this role, the FAEM also uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to gain credibility and develop relationships with customers. Responsibilities include: Partner with assigned account Sales team to design-in TI MCU/Digital power controllers in ODM/OEM. Closely work between internal IC design team, ODM and OEM Own close relationship with key ODM/OEM architects. Able to have direct and constant presence in front of ODM/OEM architects to exchange insights, learn design challenges, and brainstorm best IC proposal to stay ahead of competition. Lead discussion on new parts definition externally & internally. Able to react and mobilize design teams swiftly to enable differentiation. Ensure on-time execution to development timeline, while continuously tracking market/ competitor movement to be flexible. Understand and know how to leverage design team’s capability and advantages. Able to resourcefully leverage BU to develop reference designs matching customer needs to speed up scaling. Minimum requirements: 5 years+ experience and excellent on digital power technical knowledge. Understand digital-power Datacenter/Server PSU standards. Have insight about TAM of today and evolving technology trend. Preferred qualifications: Deep understanding of high-efficiency AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC topologies. This includes Totem-Pole/T-Type PFC and isolated DC/DC converters like LLC Resonant Converters and Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge (PSFB) etc.. Proficiency with C2000 Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) optimized for digital power. Strong skills in C/C++ language for real-time control environments. Able to debug, modify, and optimize SDKs or reference firmware. Mastery over advanced MCU peripherals critical for power, such as High-Resolution PWMs (HR-PWM), high-speed Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) etc.. Better to be experienced in ARM Cortex M based MCU Better to be experienced in cryptography, especially post-quantum cryptography (PQC) Understand competitors’ devices and strategy (for benchmark and industry trend study), including STM32G4x and dsPIC33Cx/Ax.
