Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale The Role A progressive Secondary School in Somerset is seeking a professional, hospitality-minded, and exceptionally organised Food Technology Teacher to join their expanding Design & Technology faculty. This role represents an excellent opportunity to champion nutritional science, food preparation techniques, and culinary safety frameworks within a heavily resourced department featuring newly modernised kitchen bays, commercial-grade equipment, and full-time technician support. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging practical and theoretical curriculum covering food nutrition and health, food provenance, and food safety parameters for GCSE Hospitality & Catering or Food Preparation and Nutrition specifications, alongside core culinary foundation modules across Key Stage 3. Beyond classroom instruction, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student tracking portfolios, managing raw ingredient inventory logs, optimizing departmental budgets, and maintaining immaculate physical workshop safety compliance tracking. You will act as a primary point of contact for external coursework moderators, regional safety inspectors, and parents, requiring absolute professionalism and accurate document tracking at all times. Strong organizational and time-management skills are necessary to balance real-time, fast-paced practical cooking sessions with rigorous theoretical assignment moderation.
