Job description

As the Underground Geology & Geotechnical Superintendent reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will provide leadership and technical advice to sustain and improve the underground mining operation at Moranbah North. You will be responsible for Leading and mentoring a team of Geotechnical Engineers and Geologists. Coordinating the collection, analysis and evaluation of geotechnical data as well as geotechnical risk assessments, underground strata management and implementation of new projects. Upholding a high standard of strata management in line with the Operations Management System. You will provide strategic advice to the Technical Services department and the Operations teams on how to maximise the value of the operation, whilst advising management and operational staff on geotechnical issues. As a senior member of the Technical Services Team, you will undertake and participate in a variety of projects for improvement of the mine site, ensuring geotechnical activities are integrated and tasks are well planned, adequately resourced and implemented in a timely manner to the required standard. Require tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering or a related field Be a qualified Geotechnical Engineer, RPEQ registration is desirable Have demonstrated experience in underground coal mining Exhibit a high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills Show strong communication and leadership skills to communicate and lead the implementation of geotechnical activities.
