Job Description: HR Manager (Volunteer)
Company: Always Win Limited
Location: Hybrid (remote with occasional in-person meetings), UK
Reporting to: Managing Director (Michael Faulkner)
Hours: 3–5 hours per week
Role Type: Volunteer (unpaid)
Role Overview
Always Win Limited is a startup financial software development company seeking a Volunteer HR Manager to establish and oversee core human resources functions. This role is central to building a structured, engaged, and well-supported volunteer workforce aligned with the organisation’s growth and operational goals.
The HR Manager will be responsible for developing HR systems from the ground up, ensuring volunteers are effectively recruited, supported, trained, and retained in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for volunteers
Conduct outreach to attract a diverse and skilled volunteer base
Screen applications and support selection decisions
Design and manage onboarding processes to integrate new volunteers effectively
Policy Development
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with organisational goals
Ensure policies support fairness, consistency, and compliance with relevant UK standards where applicable
Regularly review and update HR frameworks as the organisation evolves
Training & Development
Coordinate training initiatives to support volunteer skill development
Identify learning needs and recommend relevant training resources or courses
Support continuous development and role readiness for all volunteers
Volunteer Engagement
Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating volunteer environment
Develop engagement initiatives to maintain morale and commitment
Recognise and support volunteer contributions appropriately
Support & Guidance
Provide HR advice and support to volunteers and management
Assist in conflict resolution and mediation where required
Support performance discussions and volunteer role alignment
Required Skills & Experience
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, delegate, and set clear expectations
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a respectful and professional approach
Strong interpersonal intuition and ability to understand individual motivations and needs
Empathetic, respectful, and inclusive attitude towards all individuals
Commitment to volunteer development and long-term engagement strategies
Education & Experience
GCSEs in English and Maths (essential)
A Level English or undergraduate degree in HR, Management, or related field (desirable)
Previous HR experience (desirable but not essential)
