Day in the Life As an HSE Coordinator, you will support Brennan's GTA Paving operations, asphalt plants, and laboratory by helping ensure safe work practices across a variety of field and operational environments. This is a highly visible role that works closely with Forepersons, Superintendents, Managers, and frontline employees to promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. In a typical week, you will travel to project sites, asphalt plants, and operational facilities to conduct site inspections, verify training and documentation requirements, investigate incidents, and provide guidance on workplace hazards and safe work practices. You will also assist with orientations, participate in operational meetings, support incident reporting and investigations, and help ensure compliance with company programs and regulatory requirements. Important: This is a field-based position requiring regular travel throughout Southern Ontario. To support active operations, evening and night-shift work is required. For further clarity, a minimum of 5 night shifts per month are required to support operations. Responsibilities Support the implementation and ongoing administration of health, safety, and environmental programs across civil and paving operations, asphalt plants, and laboratory facilities. Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance reviews to identify risks, support corrective actions, and promote safe work practices. Verify employee training, certifications, permits, and required documentation are current, complete, and properly maintained. Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, including participation in root cause investigations and corrective action follow-up. Maintain HSE records and reporting, including inspections, incidents, audits, and training activities, while identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Provide guidance and support to supervisors, managers, and employees on company policies, hazard controls, regulatory requirements, and HSE best practices. Participate in safety and operational meetings, conduct regular site visits, and support operations across Ontario, including occasional evening and night-shift paving activities. Minimum Qualifications Valid G-Class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle. Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites and operational facilities throughout Ontario. Willingness and ability to work occasional evening and night shifts to support paving operations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers. Strong organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to manage reports, documentation, records, and multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a health, safety, or environmental role. Experience supporting construction, paving, industrial, mining, manufacturing, or other operational environments. Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline. Experience delivering orientations, training sessions, toolbox talks, or presentations to workers and operational teams. Familiarity with incident investigations, hazard assessments, inspections, and corrective action processes. Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Experience working with COR programs, safety management systems, or HSE reporting and tracking processes. Compensation This position offers a base salary range of $84,000 to $100,000, with eligible travel-related expenses covered by the company in addition to the base salary. Placement within the range will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.
