SUMMARY Plans, directs, and implements the organization's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with on-site inspections, sampling, testing, and compliance. Evaluation of permits, environmental data, and site conditions. Participate in regulatory meetings and prepare regulatory reports. Day-to-day environmental compliance tasks. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A valid driver’s license is required, and they must be willing to work overtime in the field during the internship period, May to August. Education and Experience Must currently be pursuing a degree in safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
