This role is responsible for managing and expanding key accounts, developing new business opportunities, and positioning Hydro’s extrusion, fabrication, finishing, and thermal solutions to meet customer and market needs. As part of Hydro Extrusion North America’s Building & Construction region, the Key Account Manager serves as the primary commercial partner for assigned customers and prospects. This role leads account strategy, opportunity development, pricing and contract discussions, forecasting, and commercial performance while coordinating across Hydro’s manufacturing network to deliver reliable service, technical solutions, and long-term customer value. What you will be doing Own and grow a portfolio of strategic building and construction and industrial customers and prospects across Northern California. Develop account plans that expand market share, improve customer retention, and deliver profitable, sustainable growth. Build a qualified pipeline of new opportunities involving extruded aluminum products, fabrication, finishing, and thermal improvement solutions. Understand each customer’s applications, project cycles, technical requirements, buying process, competitive alternatives, and long-term growth priorities. Lead commercial discussions involving quotations, territory market trends, pricing, contracts, volume commitments, forecasts, and account profitability. Coordinate with customer service, operations, planning, engineering, quality, credit, and regional leadership to support successful onboarding and reliable execution. Provide customers with clear, proactive communication regarding lead times, planned outages, service issues, order status, and when needed, recovery plans. Maintain accurate customer forecasts, annual budgets, market map, opportunity records, account activity, and pipeline updates in Salesforce and other required systems. Follow up on quotations, drawing approvals, FAI & PPAP samples, tooling, and purchase-order timing to keep opportunities moving forward. Participate in collection efforts, dispute resolution, claims communication, quality validation, and service recovery when required. Monitor and report market trends, competitor activity, customer investment plans, and emerging applications to identify growth opportunities. Represent Hydro professionally at customer meetings, project reviews, industry events, and plant visits while consistently following Hydro’s Code of Conduct and company policies. What will make you successful? Required Education/Experience : 10+ years’ of progressive sales and marketing, including key account management and strategy development required. Direct experience in the building & construction market required; aluminum extrusion industry experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and executing commercial strategies that increase market share and deliver profitable growth. 50-65% of the job or 3.5 of 5 working days per week typically Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Northern California and to Hydro locations as business needs require. Must speak English. Some Spanish would be a plus. Preferred Skills/Qualifications : Marketing or business degree or equivalent in education or experience preferred, advanced degree is a plus. Strong commercial knowledge and demonstrated skill in pricing, negotiation, contracts, forecasting, and strategic account planning. Demonstrated success in business-to-business sales, key account management, or business development within building and construction, aluminum extrusion, engineered products, or a related manufacturing market. Experience developing strategic accounts, building qualified new-business pipelines, and converting opportunities into profitable sales. Ability to understand technical products and translate manufacturing capabilities into customer value. Experience with LME, Metals Pricing an asset Knowledge of the building and construction value chain, including architects, specifiers, glazing and façade contractors, fabricators, OEMs, distributors and project owners. Knowledge of the Northern California building and construction market and its customer base. Preference to experience selling aluminum extrusions, fabricated aluminum components, painted or anodized finishes, thermal solutions, or other value-added manufacturing services.
