Purpose of the Role The Learning Design Intern will support the Learning and Development team in designing, developing, and maintaining engaging, learner-centred training materials. The intern will gain hands-on experience in digital learning tools and content creation while contributing to impactful learning initiatives that enhance employee capability and performance. About the Internship programme Location:Samrand - Kosmosdal Department: Client Services Internship duration: 12 months from February 2026 Application Criteria • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years • Must be South African Citizens • Must be unemployed (Interns must have less than 6 months previous employment for consideration) • Should not have been on an internship with INSETA before • Must have a completed relevant qualification a degree or diploma Education Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in any of the below: • Instructional Design • Education • Multimedia Design • Learning and Development Key Responsibilities • Assist in designing and developing learning materials (e-learning modules, facilitator guides, learner workbooks, assessments, etc.). • Support the development of multimedia learning resources, including presentations, infographics, and videos. • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect and structure content. • Research to identify effective learning strategies and new design trends. • Maintain learning resources and update content as needed • Upload, help with quality assurance and test courses on the Learning Management System (LMS). • Support with course evaluations, learner feedback collection, and improvement recommendations. • Participate in team brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for learning interventions. Skills and Competencies • Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Canva, Vyond, or similar is an advantage. • Comfortable using PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (Moodle) is an advantage. • Creative and detail-oriented with an eye for design. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organisational and time-management abilities. • Eagerness to learn and take initiative. • Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge and Skills • Analysis and scoping skills • Design and develop learning material • Develop and assess facilitators • Research skills • Project and resource management Overview of Role Responsibilities (Level 1-13) Learning and Development (L&D) Program Design - Level 4 - Process Expert Design a technical training or instruction session and develop and maintain relevant high-quality training resources to ensure the achievement of specified learning outcomes aligned to business requirements. Learning and Development (L&D) Program Delivery - Level 4 - Process Expert Deliver short technical training or instruction sessions (or segments of a training course), providing information and guidance to learners to ensure that intended learning outcomes aligned to business impact are achieved. Learning Needs Analysis - Level 4 - Process Expert Support the identification of learning needs by analyzing performance and competence data to identify gaps in relation to required levels. Training Development and Delivery - Level 4 - Process Expert Run small training programmes (or pieces of large training programs) for specific technical areas and help to prepare training content. Involves following established procedures and working under the supervision of senior colleagues. Learning Experience - Level 4 - Process Expert Support in designing user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) for intra/internet interfaces and student experience in the Integrated Learning Environment through their online learning experiences and into the student-facing features and functions of the Integrated Learning Environment. Required Skills Data Management - Human Resources - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to gather, analyze, interpret, and report on HR data to support informed decision-making, identify trends, and ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations. Typically works with guidance. Assessment - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to assimilate and understand data and information from various sources in order to analyse training needs to draw appropriate conclusions and make relevant recommendations. Typically works with guidance. Multimedia Education - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to provide computer-based training courses and reference books that let the user go through a series of presentations, text about a particular topic, and associated illustrations in various information formats. Typically works with guidance. LMS, e-Learning and Computer-Based Training - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to effectively use learning management systems, online learning platforms, and computer-based training programs to facilitate and deliver instructional content and assessments. Typically works with guidance. Training Program Design - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to design and develop courseware and programs. Typically works with guidance. Learning and Talent Development - Intermediate Works at an intermediate level to ensure that people at all levels in the organization possess and develop the skills knowledge and experiences needed to fulfill the short- and long-term ambitions of the organisation and that they are motivated to learn, grow and develop. Typically works with guidance. Turnaround Time The shortlisting process will only start once the application due date has been reached.
