The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front-end loader and other heavy equipment in support of heavy highway, utility, site development, and street construction projects. This position plays a critical role in loading, transporting, stockpiling, and moving materials while supporting construction crews in meeting project schedules and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate a front-end loader to move, load, stockpile, and transport materials such as aggregate, soil, sand, asphalt, concrete, and construction debris. Perform daily equipment inspections and complete required safety and maintenance checklists. Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues promptly. Load trucks safely and efficiently while maintaining proper material quantities. Maintain stockpiles and work areas in an organized and safe condition. Assist with excavation, grading, backfilling, and site preparation activities. Operate additional heavy equipment as needed, including: Backhoe Excavator Skid Steer Roller/Compactor Follow grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions. Work closely with laborers, pipe crews, and truck drivers to support project operations. Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements. Perform general labor duties as needed when equipment operation is not required. Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of experience operating a front-end loader in a construction environment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Knowledge of heavy civil, utility, roadway, or site development construction. Ability to conduct equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance. Strong commitment to safety and teamwork. Preferred Experience operating backhoes, excavators, rollers, or other construction equipment. Experience working around underground utilities and excavation operations. OSHA 10 certification. CDL license. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, climb, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods. Ability to enter and exit equipment multiple times throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts as required.
