Job description
Manage the coordinating of all planning functions at the operation to enable informed decision-making. The focus areas for this role will be to manage and co-ordinate the following: Planning Department: • Effective project management and implementation • Group development and testing • Support the yearly budget process by providing the required equipment performance indicators to the engineers. • Control overtime worked • Cost control • Standardisation across the operation. Ensure that Codes of Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and Legal Requirements are adhered to in area of responsibility: o Know and understand the risk profile for his / her area of responsibility o Policies, procedures and standards communicated o Risk Assessments are completed and signed-off o Downward trend in SHE accidents and incidents o Contractor packs in place o Compliance with routine and legal inspections o Demonstrate compliance to standards and legislation o Incident investigations completed within 24 hours Data capturing / integrity (in accordance with Thungela guidelines and standards): • Audit fitment and defitment actions to establish quality and take corrective measures • Perform periodic audits on Master Data to identify variances and correct them • Audit Logsheet setups • Downtime analysis, identify opportunities • Perform external benchmarking • Effective analysis, manipulation and interpretation of all engineering and equipment performance data • Effective reports drawn up on all aspects relating to engineering performance • Project milestones set • Key dates and activities communicated Compliance: • Proficient knowledge of Thungela’s policies, procedures, standards and systems • Advanced knowledge of standards and auditing processes • Proficient knowledge of the audit processes related to the Mining Charter and BBBEE
Engineering N4 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics (not mathematics literacy) Recognised trade certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 4) or equivalent relevant qualification Successfully completed the relevant Maintenance and Maintenance Supervisory courses SHE RME A3
Extensive experience of maintaining large equipment Extensive experience as a Maintenance planner In-depth experience in technically planning maintenance work Experience as maintenance foreman Knowledge In-depth knowledge of the maintenance modules in SAP Knowledge of Thungela Coal Operational Codes of Practices, policies, guidelines, standards and procedures.
