Job description
Your Mission IEP Technologies is launching a new vent manufacturing operation built around advanced fabrication equipment, automation, and modern production methods. This is an opportunity to help create a manufacturing system from a blank slate and directly influence how products move from engineering design into efficient, repeatable production. As Manufacturing Engineer - Vent Manufacturing, you will lead the technical development and optimization of the new operation. You will create and maintain CAD/CAM programs, develop manufacturing processes, establish accurate production standards, and support the introduction of vent products into the facility. You will work closely with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, and equipment suppliers to turn product requirements into safe, capable, and cost-effective production methods. How you will make a difference Develop Machine Programs: Create, prove out, document, and maintain CAD/CAM programs for the punch/laser, automated bending equipment, manual forming equipment, and related manufacturing processes. Turn Designs into Production Processes: Review engineering models and drawings, develop sheet-metal flat patterns and manufacturing methods, select tooling, and ensure designs can move efficiently into production. Establish Production Standards: Conduct time studies, validate machine and labor cycle times, and establish accurate routing standards that support capacity planning, scheduling, and product costing. Improve Cost and Performance: Analyze labor, machine time, material utilization, scrap, tooling, consumables, and operating costs to identify and implement practical cost reductions. Optimize Manufacturing Flow: Apply Lean principles to improve layout, work sequence, material flow, setup time, throughput, quality, ergonomics, and equipment utilization. Support Launch and Continuous Improvement: Lead process prove-outs, resolve production problems, document standard work, train production personnel, and drive improvements as products and volumes expand. What you should be good at Manufacturing Experience: Bring at least five years of manufacturing experience, including experience with sheet-metal fabrication, CNC machinery, automated equipment, forming, assembly, and tooling. Education: Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or a related engineering/technical field preferred. CAD/CAM and Machine Programming: Create manufacturing programs from 2D drawings and 3D models and support program prove-out on CNC fabrication equipment. Sheet-Metal Manufacturing: Apply strong knowledge of cutting, punching, laser processing, bending, forming, flat-pattern development, bend allowances, tooling, and fabrication tolerances. Manufacturing Process Development: Convert engineering requirements into repeatable production methods, tooling plans, inspection points, work instructions, routings, and standard work. Industrial Analysis: Conduct time studies, analyze cycle time and capacity, establish labor and machine standards, and evaluate manufacturing cost. Lean Manufacturing: Apply Lean methods to eliminate waste, improve flow, reduce setup time, organize work areas, and develop stable, documented processes. Hands-On Problem Solving: Work directly with operators, technicians, suppliers, Engineering, and Quality to resolve machine, tooling, programming, material, and process problems. What you can look forward to Build a New Manufacturing System: Help establish the technical processes for a new facility instead of inheriting a mature operation. Work with Advanced Equipment: Develop processes for automated cutting, forming, material handling, and supporting manufacturing technologies. Own the Full Manufacturing Process: Work from engineering data and machine programming through prove-out, costing, documentation, training, and continuous improvement. Create Visible Results: See your work directly affect product quality, throughput, material utilization, equipment performance, and manufacturing cost. Shape Future Growth: Establish the programming, process, and documentation standards that will support additional vent products, increased automation, and production growth, with future opportunities to apply your manufacturing-engineering experience across other IEP product lines. Compensation and Benefits Comprehensive Benefits: Enjoy a robust benefits package, including medical/dental/vision insurance, short- and long-term disability and life insurance and retirement plan with company matching. Competitive Pay: This is an exempt position with a starting pay range from $105,000 - $110,000 per year. Compensation will be based upon qualifications and experience. Work Location: This role is based at the IEP Technologies facility in Marlborough, MA. The role will work onsite five days per week. Local candidates are encouraged to apply; relocation benefits are not offered for this role. Supportive Environment: A stable, team-based culture that values collaboration and innovation. Join a company committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a culture of belonging.
