POSITION SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Excellence Intern will support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives within the factory. Under the guidance of Manufacturing Excellence and site leaders, the intern will apply classroom knowledge to meaningful projects focused on reliability, quality, safety, cost, delivery, productivity, and digital capability. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional partners, analyze information, contribute to solutions, and communicate project progress and recommendations. Looking for the timeframe January 2027-August 2027. PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES: Support analysis and maintenance of line and labor standards for current or new products using studies, loss analysis, and available historical data. Perform loss analysis on Pivot tables in excel and be able to share results with teams as needed. Assist with data collection, cleaning, visualization, and analysis to identify losses, trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities. Support industrial performance studies related to machine speed, production cycles, line crewing, throughput, and productivity. Help develop or update dashboards, scorecards, and operational review tools using approved platforms such as Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, or Excel. Learn and apply continuous improvement methods, including Nestle Continuous Excellence, TPM, and Lean fundamentals, with coaching from the team. Participate in cross-functional improvement projects and help document current-state processes, recommendations, actions, and results. Create training materials for any trainings as needed Support digital or paperless workflow improvements using approved tools and standardized processes. Help shopfloor teams with digital accessories and usage Prepare clear project updates and present findings or recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Follow all site safety, quality, food safety, confidentiality, and data-handling expectations. Complete other internship projects or duties assigned by the manager. Throughout all responsibilities, maintain a learning mindset and focus on continuous improvement. REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field. Student must meet the eligibility requirements of the company internship program and, when applicable, their academic institution. Interest in manufacturing, continuous improvement, industrial performance, or digital solutions. EXPERIENCE: Prior manufacturing experience is not required. Relevant coursework, class projects, student organizations, previous internships, or experience with data analysis and process improvement are preferred. Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, statistics, process mapping, or project management is a plus SKILLS: Ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate with employees at different levels of the organization. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications; interest in developing skills with Power BI, Power Apps, or similar digital tools. Ability to manage assigned tasks, ask questions, incorporate feedback, and communicate progress. Curious, reliable, adaptable, safety-minded, and willing to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to handle business information responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
