Job description
About the Company At AstroForge, our mission is to make space resources accessible on Earth. We mine asteroids to extract valuable minerals in space at a lower cost and smaller carbon footprint than current terrestrial mining methods. Along the way, we seek to leverage the technologies we build to provide additional value across other domains. We offer a unique opportunity to join an exciting team looking to expand humanity’s capabilities in space. Job Description AstroForge is looking for a Media Resident to join our in-house creative team and help tell the story of commercial deep space exploration. Working within our Media team, you will support the full lifecycle of our content, from capturing to archiving photo and video assets as well as editing footage, preparing social and web content, and contributing to creative production for launches, investor events, and public-facing campaigns. This is a hands-on role for someone who is excited to learn across disciplines, move quickly, and translate complex engineering work into compelling visual stories. Qualifications and Skills Working proficiency in standard design software like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and ideally Illustrator or After Effects), with a portfolio or reel that shows a range of creative work. Experience with photo or video capture and post-production, and an eye for composition, lighting, and storytelling. Highly organized and tech-savvy: you pick up new tools and workflows quickly, and are able to juggle multiple projects, keep them on track, and bring order to a busy creative pipeline without needing to be asked. Strong media management skills, including ingest, file naming, backups, and maintaining a searchable archive. Working knowledge of Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok: formats, specs, and what performs on each. Comfortable working directly with engineers to understand technical material and turn it into content that is accurate and accessible. A basic understanding of spaceflight and aerospace concepts, and of how the space industry is covered in the media. Strong written communication for captions, shot lists, briefs, and post copy. Flexible availability for launches, tests, and events that fall outside normal hours. Preferred Skills Hands-on experience with Canon mirrorless and Z CAM cinema camera systems, including log workflows. Live stream production experience, such as switching, encoding, and multi-camera streams to YouTube or X, using tools like OBS, vMix, or ATEM. Motion graphics, color grading, or audio and podcast production experience. Familiarity with aerospace concepts such as orbital mechanics, electric propulsion (Hall-effect thrusters, for example), and mission phases, or prior experience covering space or engineering topics. Location: Onsite in Seal Beach, CA Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour Duration: 12 weeks with possibility of conversion to permanent, salaried employee We don’t expect anyone to check every box. If you’re strong in the core skills and eager to learn the rest, apply. ITAR Requirements To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
