JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under the supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, the Outpatient Registered Dietitian performs professional duties by providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and medical nutrition counseling to primary care patients of Valle del Sol in the outpatient setting. The Registered Dietitian also plans and implements one-on-one diabetes education sessions and group classes. Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients. Obtains nutrition/dietary histories of patients on referral, records and analyzes finding, evaluates the patient’s dietary and nutritional needs, in consultation with clinical staff, suggests changes as indicated; at appropriate intervals re-evaluates the patient’s dietary/nutritional needs/maintains adequate records. Plans educational programs and curricula which include written objectives, methods, content, and evaluation. Implements the educational program for patients, prepares, reviews, and uses a variety of audio-visual materials. Provides information needed on nutritional components for VDS grants. Must be a Registered Dietitian and member of the American Dietetic Association. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental changes in age and adjusts prescribed treatment accordingly. Assures that appropriate nutrition education materials are distributed and assessable to patients and staff in each department. Provides nutrition consultation and in-service education to professional and paraprofessional staff (as well as to the staff of other agencies which relate to the Center) when requested. Participates in community events when invited as scheduling permits. Attends in-house staff meetings/committee meetings. Knowledge of nutrition and dietary principles. Able to apply this knowledge in providing high quality nutritional care. Knowledge of the relationship between nutrition and disease. Able to explain this relationship to patients at an appropriate level, prescribe relevant dietary changes. Possesses good communication skills. · Is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Serves as a resource person for VDS staff and patients regarding nutrition information. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Arizona State license to practice as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN); or or credentialed as an RD/RDN within 6 months of hire for exam eligible candidate Strong initiative, creativity, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility skills, and the ability to multi-task. Ability to collaborate with professional colleagues as necessary to provide quality care Must be able to execute conflict resolution. Ability to develop routine reports and correspondence. Strong verbal, written, and communications skills. Knowledge of MS Windows 365 environment and/or Electronic Health Records Systems. Excellent customer service. Ability to provide culturally sensitive services. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must possess reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance. Basic Life Support trained or the ability to be trained within 10 business days from hire date. TB Screening Record and PPD/QuantiFERON/Chest x-ray upon hire (as applicable). Vaccinations/Titer’s Test/Declination Form: Flu, Hep B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work Environment This position may operate in clinical, office, or community settings including clinics, administrative offices, outreach locations, client homes, partner agencies, and community sites. Employees may interact with individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, emotional distress, or complex social needs. Standard safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required as applicable. Some positions may require local travel between Valle del Sol sites or community locations. COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS Employees must maintain compliance with all Valle del Sol policies and applicable regulatory requirements, which may include: Licensure, certification, credentialing, and/or privileging requirements applicable to the position. Required immunizations and occupational health clearances. Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Hepatitis B screening or declination, when applicable. Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card when required by law or program. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record when operating a vehicle for company business. Completion and maintenance of required training, certifications, and continuing education. Failure to obtain or maintain required credentials, clearances, or compliance requirements may impact eligibility for employment or continued assignment in the role.
