Job description
Ivy Tech Evansville seeks a part-time library assistant to assist in the daily operations of the library. Major Responsibilities: Shelves library materials, performs shelf reading and other maintenance of library items. Assists patrons in using PCs, both software and hardware basics. Performs circulation functions for all library materials Assists in maintaining a neat and clean library Assists in the processing of patron communications Keeps the librarian apprised of any requests, problems, or repair needs as they arise. General clerical duties, data entry. Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to hear, talk, see, read, write, and type on a constant basis. Requires frequent bending, stooping, and standing. Requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds on an infrequent basis. Tools/Equipment Used: Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and printer Use and speak on a telephone. Mental Requirements: Ability to use problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to understand and remember instructions, requests and directives. Ability to work independently from supervisor. Requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background of college students and employees. Work Hours: The schedule for this role is generally for normal business hours on weekdays. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Knowledge of computers and word processing This is an in-person position at our campus in Evansville, IN. Remote work is not available.
