Job description

Build and improve the global network behind NetSuite’s cloud business platforms. Join Oracle NetSuite’s global Network team to develop, operate, and secure our software-defined network on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). We are looking for an experienced software developer with experience in cloud networking and a security-conscious approach. You will bring strong Terraform and Python skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to take ownership of network projects from an initial requirement through design, testing, deployment and ongoing operation. You will use your software engineering expertise to improve how we build, operate and secure our global network. You will guide technical decisions, explain trade-offs and coordinate delivery across teams. Through mentoring, code reviews and learning workshops you will help other developers grow while bringing forward your own ideas for improving our technology and ways of working. Based in Brno, you will work in a hybrid arrangement with two to three days a week in the office. Our goals are security, reliability, and performance. You will help us meet them by improving our network infrastructure and automation, supporting new NetSuite products and features being deployed onto our global network, and making network changes safer and more efficient. As a principal individual contributor, you will remain hands-on while providing technical leadership. Once you understand our environment, we will expect you to work independently, make well-reasoned technical decisions, coordinate delivery across teams, and identify opportunities to improve how we work. During your first year, you will build relationships across NetSuite, develop a strong understanding of our technology, and help advance our use of AI-assisted engineering. You will also propose and help deliver practical improvements to how we build, run, and secure our networks. This is a great opportunity for a strong coder with a passion for cloud networking to develop their experience and contribute to our growing cloud network environment. You should be interested in growing and expanding expertise in network technologies, coding and security as we support a wide variety of networking technologies. Qualifications: Strong software development experience, including building and maintaining code used in production. Confidence working with Terraform and Python. Experience with automated testing, code review, version control, and CI/CD. A security-conscious approach to software and infrastructure development. A good understanding of cloud networking and a willingness to deepen your expertise. The ability to work through ambiguous problems, explain technical trade-offs, and deliver independently. Experience helping others develop through mentoring, technical guidance, or knowledge sharing. Openness to learning and using AI-assisted development tools. The following would be valuable: Troubleshooting network issues and understanding the TCP/IP stack, routing, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, or TLS. Working with OCI or another major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, GCP. Building and operating infrastructure at global scale. Experience with cloud-based application delivery and security platforms including CDNs, web application firewalls, DDoS protection and bot management. Experience managing these services through APIs or infrastructure as code would be particularly valuable. Substantial relevant experience in software development, infrastructure automation or network engineering. We welcome applicants from different educational and career backgrounds. If you can demonstrate the software engineering skills and technical leadership described above, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification. How we work: You will collaborate with colleagues around the world in a busy environment with varied projects and operational responsibilities. We value people who take initiative, communicate clearly, and help one another succeed. Our follow-the-sun support rotation currently runs approximately one week in six. During that week, your normal working hours focus on high-priority support and urgent issues. A separate emergency on-call rotation covers out-of-hours and weekend incidents, currently approximately one week every three months. Why join us: Our people are a major reason colleagues choose to stay with this team. We invest in training and development, support for certifications, conference participation and opportunities to lead improvements. We encourage our team to identify improvements and take ownership of delivering them. You will have opportunities to expand your expertise, grow your career, and increase your impact. We support flexibility alongside our hybrid working arrangement. Develop and maintain Terraform infrastructure and Python automation for NetSuite’s global OCI network. Design and deliver network capabilities that support new products, features, and customer growth. Put security at the heart of your work, from design and code review through testing and deployment. Improve automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and validation to make changes safer and more repeatable. Apply AI coding tools thoughtfully, reviewing and testing their output with the same care as any production code. Troubleshoot production issues, contribute to incident response, and turn lessons learned into lasting improvements. Coordinate projects with colleagues across Network, Security, SRE, and product engineering teams. Support security of the network, handling multiple layers of defence across the cloud network with both internal and external partners. Mentor other developers, run learning workshops, and share knowledge that helps the whole team become more effective.
