Job description
Manage the overall contracts position – Client and sub contracts for the project Manage the contractual and commercial aspects from the preparation of tenders and letting of contracts through to dealing with claims, ensuring that cash flow is managed effectively and that budgets and forecasts are maintained. Assist the Project Manager in all commercial and contractual matters.
Prepare and issue of requests for tender. Evaluate, negotiate and award contracts. Prepare and issue contract documents. Manage the verification of and verify interim monthly progress certificates from contractors. Ensure control of back charges. Evaluate, negotiate and bring resolution to contractor claims and pro-actively manage client and sub‑contractor compensation events. Attend site inspection, kick-off and project progress meetings. Ensure control of site instructions. Compile and issue contract amendments. Ensure the Project control system is up to date Other duties, as assigned, by the Supply Chain and Commercial Manager.
Qualifications Tertiary qualification in related field A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Contracts Administration, preferably within the engineering sector. Experience with NEC and FIDIC forms of contract Experience in evaluating, negotiating and awarding of contracts. Good computer literacy skills in MS Office. Working knowledge of MS Project would be advantageous but not a requirement Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. Competencies, Skills & Experience Desirable Thorough knowledge of standard forms of contract, NEC and FIDIC and other forms Proven knowledge of Contract Management English language skills written and verbal Computer literate Knowledge of the industry and participants. Ability to communicate effectively Ability to negotiate effectively. Logical Thinker Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and keep in balance multiple priorities/ demands Thorough understanding of the Construction Industry Development Board, CIDB, procurement process
