The Role Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management for the Carrier Inactivations Program Management Office (PMO). This role will be responsible for supporting the Carrier Inactivation Project Construction Team Superintendents. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. Responsibilities may also include but are not limited to: Support project superintendents and managers in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and tracking project activities Develop and maintain project documentation, status reports, dashboards, and meeting materials Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies Analyze project performance metrics and provide actionable insights to stakeholders Assist with resource allocation, forecasting, and capacity planning Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, document action items, and track follow-ups Translate complex project information into concise, actionable insights for project superintendent, managers and leadership Ensure compliance with PMO standards, governance processes, and reporting requirements Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies Support change management and communication activities related to project initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience Nice to Have Project Management Professional (PMP), CAPM, Agile, or Scrum certification DAWIA certification/education from Defense Acquisition University Experience working in a Program Management Office (PMO) environment Knowledge, skills and related experience in shipbuilding, defense, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or other complex industrial environments. Knowledge, skills and related experience in Critical Path and Float schedule analysis, Labor forecasting (Labor Resource Management) and Labor Plan vs. Actual charting/analysis Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables/Data Filtering/Grouping), PowerPoint, and project management tools Top 5 Strengths (Strength Finders) to include at least two of the following: Analytical, Strategic, Responsibility, Achiever, Deliberative, Consistency, Discipline, Arranger, Focus, Relator, Input 2–5 years of experience in project coordination, project analysis, business analysis, or PMO support Experience supporting enterprise-level or cross-functional projects Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to complete the Inact Program – 2026 through 2031 (6 years) Competencies in Project/Program Managment, analytical thinking, schedule management, financial & performance analysis, time managment, risk identification & mitigation, process improvement, and stakeholder management Why HII We build the world’s most powerful, survivable naval ships and defense technology solutions that safeguard our seas, sky, land, space and cyber.
