Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

The Quality Assurance (QA) Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that improve software quality and reduce reliance on manual testing. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and QA to develop test strategies based on business requirements, Jira stories, and acceptance criteria. The QA Automation Engineer will play a key role in evaluating, implementing, and managing the organization's test automation framework while ensuring high-quality releases across the claims processing platform. Primary Responsibilities: Review Jira stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria to develop comprehensive test plans and test cases Design test scenarios that validate functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end workflows Identify opportunities to automate repetitive and high-value test scenarios Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirement discussions to ensure requirements are testable Evaluate, recommend, and implement an automation testing framework and supporting tools Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web, API, and system testing Build and maintain reusable automation libraries and testing standards Continuously expand automation coverage to reduce manual testing and improve release quality Maintain and update automated test scripts as application functionality evolves Execute automated regression, smoke, and functional test suites Perform manual testing when automation is not practical or during new feature development Validate end-to-end business workflows across the claims processing platform Verify fixes and ensure production readiness before releases Identify, document, and track defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues and validate resolutions Retest resolved defects and confirm successful implementation Communicate testing status, risks, and quality metrics throughout the development lifecycle Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing administration of the organization's test automation solution Recommend process improvements that increase testing efficiency and software quality Develop automation best practices, coding standards, and supporting documentation Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and QA team members throughout the Agile development lifecycle Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and release activities Partner with Product and Engineering to implement and continuously improve the organization's test automation strategy Stay current on emerging automation tools, frameworks, and industry best practices Qualifications: 3–5+ years of Quality Assurance experience with a strong focus on test automation – Required Intermediate level experience with SQL and database validation – Required Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks – Required Hands-on experience with Playwright for test automation – Required Experience with test automation tools and frameworks – Required Experience with API testing using Postman – Required Experience working with Jira and Agile/Scrum methodologies – Required Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and defect lifecycle – Required Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills – Required Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams – Required Experience implementing a test automation framework from the ground up – Preferred Experience testing healthcare, claims processing, or other enterprise applications – Preferred Familiarity with performance and load testing tools – Preferred Experience mentoring QA team members on automation best practices – Preferred Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
