Find out more: Redefining Energy | EET About the Role As a Senior Environmental Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of EET's multi-billion-pound infrastructure and energy transition project portfolio. Reporting to the Environmental Lead, you will provide expert environmental guidance across major development projects, ensuring environmental considerations are fully integrated throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with project teams, consultants, regulators and external stakeholders, you will help secure approvals, maintain compliance and deliver environmental solutions that support the successful execution of strategic CAPEX projects. You will: · Support and deputise for the Environmental Lead across a portfolio of major infrastructure and development projects. · Lead environmental deliverables associated with planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), environmental permitting and wider regulatory requirements. · Manage specialist environmental consultants and contractor support contracts, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective delivery of services. · Coordinate environmental activities throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams. · Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, local authorities, community stakeholders and external advisors. · Provide technical expertise on environmental legislation, permitting requirements and planning compliance obligations. · Support the discharge of planning conditions, project environmental requirements and regulatory commitments. · Produce, review and assure technical reports and environmental documentation for internal and external stakeholders. · Monitor regulatory developments and industry best practice to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement. · Contribute to environmental performance monitoring, audit activities and departmental KPI reporting. · Promote EET's commitment to environmental stewardship, compliance and operational excellence. About You To succeed in this role, you'll have: · A degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline. · Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (such as ISEP or CIEEM), or a clear plan to achieve chartered status within 18 months. · Significant experience supporting major infrastructure, industrial, energy or engineering projects within a complex regulatory environment. · Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, environmental permitting and planning frameworks. · Experience delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), permitting applications and other planning and environmental compliance activities. · Demonstrable project management skills, with experience delivering technical workstreams on time and within budget. · Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage effectively with regulators, consultants, project teams and senior leadership. · Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to interpret and apply complex environmental regulations. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentation experience. · The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. · A proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for environmental compliance and continuous improvement. It would be advantageous if you also have: · A master’s degree in an environmental or related discipline. · Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems and environmental auditing. · Knowledge of UK ETS, ESOS, CL: AIRE and other environmental compliance frameworks. · Experience in specialist areas such as air dispersion modelling, effluent monitoring, waste management or ENVID studies.
