Job description

Objectives of the Position Ensure the production plants consistently meet customer demand and quality expectations while complying with local regulations and company standards. This is achieved by building a capable and efficient organization, fostering a strong safety culture and customer-focused mindset, maintaining reliable production and infrastructure assets, and supporting site expansion and investment projects. In addition, serve as BASF’s representative on the Boards of Directors (BoD) of two joint venture companies in Singapore and Malaysia, providing governance oversight and strategic guidance. Main Tasks Act as the officially authorized representative registered with full compliance relevant authorities for all EHS and operational activities at the Singapore site. Assume overall responsibility for site EHS management, with a focus on regulatory permits, work permits, environmental permits (EP), waste management, process safety, and product stewardship. Collaborate closely with the Singapore EHS Platform and site EHS team to ensure with local regulations and BASF standards. Lead the Management of Change (MOC) process and serve as the final approver for all MOCs prior to implementation. Develop and strengthen operational capabilities through coaching, on-the-job training, talent development programs, and participation in internal and external training seminars. Manage production planning and execution by allocating and balancing resources based on sales forecasts and supply chain requirements. Monitor operational performance, ensure timely troubleshooting, maintain process discipline, and implement systematic process controls to achieve safe, reliable, and high-quality production. Drive cost competitiveness and operational efficiency through process optimization and effective asset utilization. Enhance asset integrity and maintenance effectiveness by defining and implementing maintenance strategies, including preventive and corrective maintenance programs, to improve equipment reliability and facility availability. Optimize maintenance costs through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure contractors strictly comply with company safety requirements and enhance contractor performance in close cooperation with Procurement and EHS. Leverage management systems and digital tools to drive operational excellence, including GAP for asset effectiveness management, the Operational Excellence Database for continuous improvement initiatives, and Circle/MPI for maintenance process management. Lead and support capital investment projects, including site expansions, capacity increases, safety improvement initiatives, and infrastructure upgrades. Participate in project justification and approval processes and assume responsibility for project execution, commissioning, and start-up. Collaborate with global technology teams to establish and implement standardized production processes and best practices. Manage site utilities and infrastructure systems to ensure reliable operations while reducing energy and water consumption through equipment upgrades, automation, and process optimization, control system enhancements. Coordinate cross-functional interfaces through effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and continuous review of internal processes to improve organizational efficiency and alignment. Provide procurement support, including the creation, review, and approval of purchase requisitions (PRs). Establish and maintain an effective succession and delegation framework, whereby the Production Manager, Maintenance & Facilities Manager, and EHS Manager act as designated deputies for Operations and EHS management responsibilities during periods of absence. Serve as company’s representative on the Boards of Directors of two joint venture companies in Singapore and Malaysia, providing governance oversight, strategic direction, and ensuring alignment with company’s business objectives, compliance requirements, and shareholder interests. Requirements Minimum degree in chemical or other related field. At least 10 years working experience at chemical plant Familiar with production, EHS and Engineering & Maintenance management
