Job Title: Senior Specialist, System Administration Job Code: 43767 Job Location: Greenville, Texas On-site Job Schedule: 9/80 Regular: Off every other Friday, 1st Shift or 5/8 Monday - Friday Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Linux Administrator with Windows Server experience to join our IT team. The successful candidate will maintain, upgrade, and manage our Linux and Windows-based infrastructure. This role requires a resourceful individual that is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include troubleshooting end-user issues, managing Linux cloud instances and Windows Server configuration, patching, and performance; addressing foundational networking tasks; and delivering adaptable support across multiple programs and locations. The ideal candidate is resourceful and customer-focused, with excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize effectively amid shifting daily demands, and a proactive approach to listening and tailoring solutions to end-user needs. Essential Functions: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated software in a multi-platform environment. Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and operation with Linux systems. Experience with virtualization platforms (vSphere, KVM, Proxmox, etc.) Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including deploying and debugging workloads Familiarity with SDN and modern networking (NSX-T, Calico, Cilium, load balancers, TLS) Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation scripting Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based workflows (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.) Understanding of identity and access management (OIDC, OAuth2, Keycloak or equivalent) Experience running stateful or platform components (object storage, databases, registries) in Kubernetes Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, observability, and troubleshooting Monitor system performance and troubleshooting issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of all systems. Implement and oversee security protocols, conduct system backups, and ensure data recovery processes are in place. Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Create and maintain documentation on system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl. Familiarity / knowledge of disaster recovery software, exercises, and actual events. Provide technical support and guidance to users and other team members. Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. Qualifications: Active CompTIA Security+ certification. Active security clearance A professional certification in Linux administration is preferred. Certifications such as LPIC, RHCSA, or CompTIA Linux+ are highly desirable. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Experience with virtualization technologies and container orchestration tools. Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Proficiency in automation and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Expertise in Windows Server management, including configuration, patching, and performance optimization. Advanced scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to drive efficiency and process improvement. Exceptional problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, mentor junior team members, and quickly adapt to emerging technologies. Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and perform after-hours work for critical incidents. Preferred Additional Skills: Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds), backup/recovery solutions (e.g., Acronis, Backup Exec), and database systems (SQL Server, MySQL). Familiarity with security compliance and best practices. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
