Service Plumber

Position OverviewSmith and Oby is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Service Plumber to join our team. This role plays a critical part in delivering the quality workmanship and reliable customer service our company is known for. The Service Plumber will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install plumbing systems in commercial buildings across Northeast Ohio while serving as a positive ambassador of the Smith and Oby brand.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plumbing issues across commercial and industrial systemsPerform routine service, maintenance, and preventative inspectionsInstall piping systems, fixtures, and equipment according to drawings, specifications, and building codesCommunicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal teamsDocument service activities accurately and on timeEnsure all work is completed safely and follows Smith and Oby procedures and codesCare for company issued tools, equipment, and vehiclesParticipate in on call rotation as assignedRequired QualificationsJourneyman card or ability to obtain Journeyman licensingThree or more years of experience in plumbing serviceStrong understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, gas lines, sanitary and stormProficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipmentAbility to work independently and solve problems in the fieldValid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordPreferred QualificationsBackflow certificationExperience in occupied commercial environments, industrial plants, schools, or healthcareBoiler, medical gas, or welding experience is beneficialPersonal QualitiesProfessional, dependable, and committed to safetyStrong communicator who provides excellent customer serviceTeam oriented with a willingness to mentor apprenticesProud of their craft and the work they deliverPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift, up to fifty poundsAbility to climb ladders and work in tight or elevated spacesWork conditions include indoor and outdoor environments and varying weatherWhy Smith and ObyCompetitive pay and full benefitsCompany paid training and professional developmentCareer growth opportunities inside a respected and expanding mechanical contractorSupportive leaders, great teammates, and a culture that values people and craftsmanship
